Hi everyone! Sorry I missed some of your posts. I've been hibernating. ;) Vickster...what I meant about a rope basket is to just tie a rope around the bottom of the pot and around the lip, and then a handle, so that you can grab onto the rope and pull the container out of the water. Sometimes that's easier than trying to lift just the pot out. I saw an ad for a small crane the other day, and thought how useful that would be for lifting pots out of the water! Every Fall I give myself a lecture that I HAVE to cut back on the things I'm growing the next spring. Well, I guess I'm not listening to myself, because I'm looking for a couple more waterlilies! I'm going to do what Cliff and Joanne do and dig a hole beside my little pond, and put a 35-50 gallon container into it, and then fill it with water and put the smaller container of lotus in that. That will free up one of my stocktanks for another waterlily. I'm storing 2 lotus and 1 waterlily underground this winter. I hope they do okay. They've done fine the other years, so I'm hopeful they will be fine again. Right now its cold and snowing out, but I'm having dreams of lotus and lily blossoms, and frogs singing. :)

I didn't have any place to put the pot over winter where it wouldn't freeze so I pulled some tubers and kept them in the fridge. I planted a tuber in a bigger pot earlier this spring, but the new leaves kept getting shredded mysteriously. Turned out the water was shallow enough for grackles to bath in the pot, ripping the fragile new leaves apart in the process. I removed enough dirt to ensure the water was deep enough to keep the birds out and replanted the tuber, but the weather hasn't been consistently warm enough to get it really going well yet.

One of the advantages of picking up a seasonal item such as lotus on ebay, besides an outstanding choice and price, finding out what is available and doable, you know folk by and large are experienced and able to send an item in a parcel. Matherfish listings should make good reading, probably the biggest selection early in the season

Hello Bonnie, I have several hardy waterllys to trade but he problem right now is that my pond is frozen. Every year they come back bigger and better than the year before. I have white , yellow and I have a realy big pink waterlily. The leaves are mottled I'm sorry I don't know the names of them but I'd make it worth your while. I also have a ton of perennials. plnk Kathleen
