the click here button

Honestly, it is driving me crazy. How many times have I typed a response to a post, and then without thinking, or having time to stop my gut reaction, I CLICKED THE CLICK HERE BUTTON which says after it to stop receiving all notice of posts.

When what I intended to click was the SUBMIT or PREVIEW button.

Does anyone else have this impulse to do what the blasted button says?

It would help me if it were located beneath the SUBMIT or PREVIEW button, to be honest. Or if the click here was at the END of the line instead of the only button visible unless you scroll UP a bit, and then you find the button you really need.

What I want to know is what benefit is that if you are typing a reply and the next thing you expect is a SUBMIT, but instead you lose your typed message in la-la land?

I feel so dumb when it happens too. All the time I spent typing is wasted. Gone. Pffffft into thin air. What a bummer.

Now that is my story and I'm sticking to it. :)

the CHECK here button.. asks me if i WANT replies to YOUR post mailed to me..

yours says the opposite??? or are you moving so fast.. you arent even reading it right??? slow down girl .. lifes too short ...

and no.. i do not confuse a check box.. with a PREVIEW button ...

i think you are just moving a bit too fast.. or too much coffee ... i fully realize there are so many hosta issues.. and so little time.. but really.. you could slow down from warp speed a bit and actually focus on the box or button .. lol..

i am going to chuckle about this all evening.. i hope you can too ...

Ahhhh, you are so cool, Ken, must be sitting on the porch rocking to an fro again.

When you rock away from the keyboard .....
those little dots appear .....
when you rock back ......
you type ......
and then we get some more dots .....
There is such a comforting rhythm to it.....

go visit the thread and make further response, and that
is when they put up that

CLICK HERE ....if you no longer wish to receive notifications for this message.

below that line is the PREVIEW MESSAGE button, which is the one you need to click if you are posting a follow up reply to a thread you have been following for a while. My mistake is to click the first button CLICK HERE in a distracted fashion I do admit, and lose the whole text of what I've been typing and intended to post. Might say I should just stop posting, I've said enough, but why stop now I'm on a roll.........

Now, I'll take a deep breath, and force myself to scroll UP another line or two so I can click a button which does not say "click here".....it says PREVIEW MESSAGE.....which is what GWeb traditionally has had first thing below the typing box and the boxes for the links.

I'll try to remember to slow down and smell the hosta.
I can feel the calm coming upon me....Ummmmmm....ah hummmmm.

Hmmm, I didn't realize it was only happening here on Gweb, because I don't click the back button that much unless I'm here. This has been really bugging me! My Firefox automatically updated itself a couple of days ago, and I thought that's why it was happening. But since it's only on GW, I can't blame it on that.

Thanks Mona! Egads, they did not even know what it was? I wonder now how my Podunkville PO folks will handle it? I do have to give them credit though. They have mastered the fine art of determining the correct postage for bubble envelopes taking the thickness, length and width into consideration, yada, yada, yada. Hmmmm..... That being said, I believe the form and the package must be presented in person at the PO. But according to #6 above, I can schedule pick up here at the house and I will likely call the local PO in the AM just to see for sure that they have the pick-up order. I don't know what I am going to do with this box. It has postage stamps on it already, but I could just cut it open and use it another time. What will happen if I do the C-n-S and and my printer messes up? Also, can you reduce the size of the address and postage label it prints? Does it have to be 8 1/2" by 11". Often I ship smaller boxes. Life used to be so simple...put the postage stamps on the box, leave a note in the mail box, and the boxes disappeared from the back door. I just feel like whining today...sorry.

We've all lost some draft posts for whatever reason...dang stupid computers. They should have known I was gonna do that and saved it for me, lol.

I open a separate word document and type up my replies in there and then copy all and paste into the reply box.

VOILA !!!

This way even if you click the wrong button you don't lose the draft since it is open in a separate program outside of your web browser.

Ken has at least one young red-headed son. I don't think he ever has time to sit on a porch and rock. Everyone clicks the wrong button sometimes. I never click on the Check here button. I check into this website several times a day becuase the computer is right here in the kitchen/family room and very easy to access.

Sometimes I click preview to check what I wrote and to see if the photo attached is right, then I forget to click on submit. I go away and lose the whole works and get very unhappy, having to type and attach again, so the reply I finally do post sounds somewhat curt and to the point.

I fully understand that can happen to others, so I don't take a whole lot of some of this stuff seriously. We all enjoy hostas and that is why we keep coming back here to find like minds.

I'm no computer whiz, but I think that you have altered your preferences to allow other users to send you email. Those of us who have not done this have no "Click here" button. Instead, we have, as Ken said, a box to "Check here" if you would like post replies emailed to you. At least, that's my guess. You might want to check it out.

Thanks is exactly what I do, too. Sometimes the posts take so long to prepare, losing it would be too upsetting.

I was wondering why I don't have a click here button showing.

Can't you just hit your back button and still see the text you had been entering? Or does it go away on your computer? Mine works that way thankfully.

And I always thought the ... was Ken taking another drag of his cigarette ...
