Even though the bloodroot flowers are really short lived, I couldn't be without them. In my garden, the foliage is another thing. It looks nice early in the season, but then takes on a really tortured look for the rest of the year until it eventually goes away. In my book, that's a real drawback, but I tolerate it because the flowers are just do dear. I love the anemone, but it does seem kind of picky about location. As stated above, the flowers do appear on and off all summer, but there are more of them in early spring and again when the weather cools. The foliage on the other hand stays nice, neat and tidy all through the summer. I like that. Another difference between the two is that bloodroot spreads by rhizomes and seed, so clumps get larger each year. Individual plants of the anemone may increase in size, but it spreads mainly by seed, so you may have plants pop up anywhere in the garden. Kevin

thank you. Now that I know it exists. I have to get one...... the singles are so cool. It need to attach a picture. I have quite a number of "clumps" growing in my fence line. Almost zapped a couple of them by mistake when I was spraying the darn garlic mustard which is sure looking healthy this year!

Did you ever find someone to trade with for some double flowering bloodroot? I too was looking to trade with someone.
