What 's blooming in your September Moon Garden?

This is a popular thread so many times of the year in most forums. I am trying to bolster my white garden for this month next year, it seems the annuals are carrying it right now. I would like to add a few more fall blooming perennials, so if anyone has any white or very light colored flowers ( I prefer white for mine) in bloom now, or due in October, I'd love a few suggestions. I currently have the following blooming/or about to bloom:

Butterfly Bush White Bouquet

Dahlia Fleurelle

Cimifuga Hillside Black Beauty

Sedum Frosty Morn

Veronica Icicle

Chrysanthemum Christine Hagemann (rebloom)

Formanosanum Lilies (finishing up)

Caladiums Candidum, and Marie Moir

Boltonia Snowbank

Anemone Honerine Jobert (just about to open)

Double White Begonias

Lamium White Nancy

Hibiscus Blue River II

Snow Lady Daisies (rebloom)

Echinacea White Swan

White garden mums

Varigated Holly, Bronze Fennel, Artemesia Powis Castle, and various other foliage plants,

Cleome (way too much of this, heavy reseeder)

White Lantana

Nicotiana Alata

White Petunias

White Cosmos

White impatiens

White vinca

White verbena

White portulaca

Alyssum carpet of snow

Zinnia crystal white (hasn't stopped blooming since I put it in)

Dianthus taylor white (rebloom)

Moonflower..( in bud, hope to bloom soon)

Dusty Miller ( I am going to do more of this next year..it shines so nicely)

White Salvia

White annual geraniums

White Angelonis (hasn't stopped blooming)

White tuberose that has only put up foliage so far, no signs of the calla lilies I put in either.

I also use some red and blue/deep purple for contrast during the day...not much.

Salvia > red, purple, blue, and white

Red Gerbera Daisies

It looks like a lot in print, but it is a large garden, and it needs more..more MORE>.. (am I obsessed?, you bet!)

Thanks for any input, I'd love some suggestions..I'll try and post some photos, I can't seem to get the whole garden in one shot, I am waiting for my first moonflower to open, I think it may be tomorrow!

Lambs ears, white madevilla, madevilla laxa ( hardy ) russian silver vine, lychnis ( sp? ) white foliage and flowers,, white anthuriums, silver monkey grass, the variegated fallopia japonica, white hostas, several kinds of white variegated miniture bamboos,

Lambs ears, that is great, that will fit right in. I can't believe I don't know what any of the other plants you listed are. I'll have to look some of them up, thank you.

I do have a hosta Aphrodite..very nice white double fragrant flowers, but their foliage is so big and green most of the year, I am not sure if I will put it in.

Sept 30..... in Franklin I have pansies which were cut back 6 weeks ago and are now revived back from spring looking happy and blooming strong again. wax and fiberous begonias, kale, shrimp plant, calendula, snaps, petunias, bachelor buttons, malva, coleus, sweet annie, false queen anne lace, lavendar, sunflowers, rudbeckia, zinnias, asters, phyostegia, asters whats still is alive with lots of foliage is: avacadoe plants, key lime tree, scented geraniums,Banana tree, orange tree, taragon, lettuce, onions, parsley, cucmbers(dont look great-too manyducks trampling onthem)The maples are turning bright red What I have growing in West Tremont, Maine is well, we have a garden center so everything is looking pretty good very diverse in plant species and still much is lush and blooming. In my pataote beds 20X20 feet The pataotes still have not died back much so I am still waiting for that harvest to occur. My garlic is blooming nicely! The lavetera did fabulous this year and is still bloomin it little heads off along the pet zoo animal fence. There is also lots of sunflowers blooming happily!

Hi HW, you said it: It is difficult to choose just one. If I may choose just one from different categories, ha ha ha..always trying to stretch it. spring bulbs: Calgary Tulips..large flowered, low to the ground and heavy substance, lasts a long time. Shrub: dwarf Minnisota Snowflake Mock Orange..long bloomtime, covered with double white extremely fragrant white flowers. Summer bulbs: it would have to be any of the lilies, candidum, trumpet, asiatic, species, turks cap, Oriental, formanosanum. They all last a good while and most are very fragrant too. The large flowers make a good impact. perennial is really tough...I'm probably going to say Carolina Phlox Miss Lingard...early and long blooming, fragrant. vine: tough again, but I'd have to say moonflower. annuals..ha ha ha..too tough to pick just one. Really, so for this post I'll say zinna white profusion.. but there really are so many that I wouldn't do without. I can't seem to find plumbago here locally. I know it isn't hardy here, but I'd still like to try it. I don't have much of a shock value white, maybe the Blue River II Hibiscus, for sheer flower size. Same is true of the dinner plate white dahlias. Thanks for the post, it makes me realize, I don't have an absolute favorite..way too many..peonies, iris, lilac, yikes, I feel guilty not mentioning half of the garden..ha ha ha...enjoy...JoAnn

Hello all, nice to be back. With all the activity going around, I guess I should also launch the other thread of "What happened in your garden this week". I'll start it on Monday. I am still doing my spring cleaning, or should I say.... my fall cleaning. But it's going well, I still have the upper hand on my garden! I haven't seen my iris reticulata yet, which is a bit of a surprise. Things are warming up very slowly, I guess it's the same for all of us. I hope no one ate them.... and my rose "Marechal Niel" is also in bloom but that's inside, so of course it's cheating... Best Belle Isis

Not as much now but, hydrangea still has some really blue, blue flowers hostas, keep forgetting to list them portulaca sundial pink portulaca sundial yellow portulaca mixed colors, the $.10 packets from walgreens, have gone much better than the purchased plants of sundial 4 0'clock broken colors godetia blue thimble gilia zinnia cactus flower zinnia dahlia flower like zinnia liliput dianthis firewitch, third bloom this year cosmos, 12 different types 20 different types of morning glory vines balsamina impatiens hibiscus hardy southern or disco belle, not sure which datura metal angel trumpet white datura metal, angel trumpet lavender, might be lilac lefleur coreopsis lanceleaf coreopsis dwarf corepsis, tiny pink flowers clematis will goodwin full of buds again clematis duchess of edinburg full of buds again Drippy, next year plant 4 o'clocks very close to your roses. japanese beetles love the 4 o'clocks but the leaves are poison to them. Kills the @##$ things. Have had very few since I put them in, just a few holes on the 4 0'clock leaves and none on any of my roses!!!!!!! Japanese beetles where all over my roses this year till I got their new friend planted next to them. Combo looks nice too

We've had a cool summer here in the U.P. of Michigan, so a lot of plants are behind. My Datura 'Belle Blanche' is just starting to really take off. Four O'clock 'Alba" is going strong and smelling wonderful, Baby's Breath, white Petunias, Alyssum, and Double White Begonias. The one that really took over is the Borage "Alba". They reseeded from last year, but I don't mind. They're awesome! Little stars nodding in the moon light, beautiful with the dew dripping off them in the early morning. Gotta love 'em! Sounds like I'm going to have to expand my Moon Garden to keep up with you guys!

Wow, a white borage? Cool, I have the sky blue and love them. I'll have to keep my eye out for them. I only wish I had planted my garden in the path of the moonlight. I enjoy mine at dusk..

Hello, I would love to see pictures of your garden. Don't try to have it all in one shot. We will be happy to ssee several close ups or distant pix. You can have a great plant that blooms twice in white and fragrant: choysia ternata, choysia variegated; sarcoccocca that flowers in winter and fragrant;they are bushes 4 feet wide when adults and so beautiful. Centaurea gymnocarpa has a grey foliage. Flowers are pink I think. Give us pix please!
