I finally got around to searching the MAGTAG supply bin, and here's what's lefto over from last year:

Cups:
12 styrofoam
12 red plastic
70 or so smaller clear plastic cups (like for wine)

Plates:
32 reusable plastic plates
@20 white paper and/or styrofoam plates - Annebert is bringing 250 more paper plates; will the 20 I have be enough for earlybirds to cut tomatoes on for the tasting? If not, I can buy a small pack.
12 small red plastic plates

Bowls, Trays, etc.:
23 styrofoam bowls
26 frozen meal trays/bowls

Plastic Utensils: Have some but need more (esp. forks) - Steve & Trudi to supply

2 boxes Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil
5 lg trash bags - might need more, especially if we separate recyclables
Could use some large bins/trashcans/boxes to line with trashbags for recycling)

Packing tape

I'll come early enough so we don't need extra plates. I can bring garbage bags and will try to line up some sort of bag holders so we can do recycling/composting. The plates are labeled compostable, so I'm willing to give it a try!

Great to hear you and Steve will be comming. It was great fun last year and we had more people by a small margin. I won a bunch of tomato prizes last year but this year will be more questionable due to herbicide in the free manure I used and with some help from you! :-)

Also, you will like our new penny method of judgement. There will be no post MAGTAG pictures of Cecelia looking at a pile of papers and lists and looking frazeled :-)

I mentioned on the other sites that since Annbert is bringing burgers I am bringing hotdogs and some chicken. Also, I can get a large roll of plastic table cloth and some DuctTape to attach it. Also I will bring some plastic cups for the Pennies.

I will bring two varieties of hummus made with our Middle Eastern recipe and whole wheat pita bread. We are novices at square foot gardening, but eager to taste some home-grown heirloom tomatoes and hear about all the ins and outs of tomato gardening, particularly in sandy soil.

Lisa, I'm sure you'll get plenty of good info from us MAGTAGers. We all love it when people's eyes don't glaze over at the mention of heirlooms and blossom-end rot and hornworms and compost and seed starting. Usually, people bring in extra seeds to trade or give away, so if you're interested in growing your own seeds under lights, you might be able to get some freebees. Hopefully, your "shadysite" has at least one spot where you get enough sun to grow tomatoes - even in a pot!

We've had some folks who live on MD's Eastern Shore attend in the past - they might be familiar with gardening in sandy soil. When my brother lived in Charleston, SC, he had to grow all his 'maters in pots - but that might have been because of nematodes rather than sand.

P.S. I LOVE hummus. Yum.

If you are looking for other things to bring I am bringing my gazebo to place over the barbeque grill. If other folks brought some as well we could put them on the edge of the pavilion that was getting wet and it would give us a buffer if it rains.

It's thunderstorming here in B-more right now. I hope Mother Nature gets all this rain out of her system tonight and it's clear tomorrow.

I finally feel like I can relax. The bacon is cooked, the lettuce is torn up, my sister found both Old Bay and Duke's Mayo, and Greg is coming to our rescue with the gazebo so we can grill. Theresa and I went out for crabcakes with our Dad tonight, and couldn't stop talking about MAGTAG. He's turning 87 Sunday and still wouldn't miss it, so why should the rest of us wimp out? I honestly think he considers it one big birthday party for him.

BTW, Greg F. - Dad was very grateful (and seemed somewhat honored) that you and Luanne had a Novena said for him. Perhaps that's why he's recovering so well!
