Thanks! We have an insulated storage unit but I will have to put out a thermometer to find out how cold it gets before I do that. My mum has been indoors since I got it. The overnights will be 14 tonight and 17 tomorrow and then back into the low to mid 30's the for a few days and beginning Fri. Nov.3rd thru the 9th low 50's; overnights 33+. Should I just start by taking it out when the temps are above freezing and bring it in at night and start leaving it out longer and longer and finally leave it in the storage unit?? Vera

well if you leave out pertinent facts.. then you get shotgun answers.. lol ... you would save me a lot of typing if you did give all the facts up front .. lol ... i hope you have one cutting in a glass of water in the house.. just to prove me wrong ... its got time to root and be stuck in the ground by mid sept ... and.. as with conifers.. mail order will get you what you want ... i am still trying to recall that name of that mum seller.. they offer ... back in the mid 90'2 ... like 500 varieties.. FOR TWO BUCKS EACH ... they were just single stemmed rootings as i said.. but at two bucks.. i think i bought about 25 varieties.. it only took a few years.. to be down to 10 or so.. truly z5 hardy plants.. but it was neat .. because they were much different than the usual bigboxstore offerings... it was a short family name .. lee's???? ... .. whatever.. odds of someone popping in and reminding me are low ... ken

Sorry it took me so long to post pics! Some of these aren't that great, because I was taking them before the sun was on the plants. The flash doesn't really show the true coloring. This is an Echinopsis given to me by DH's grandma. This is a bloom stem....not porn. LOL It just keeps growing, and I can't wait to see the bloom on it! This is some yarrow I grew from seed, in front of feverfew, as well as another batch of yarrow in the back left. I'm rather disappointed in the color of the yarrow blooms, as I was hoping to get some with other pastel shades to bring some excitement to this area. Ah, well, what can you do? :) I guess some of the seedlings I gave Mom have some color, so all is not lost! My Veronica spicata getting ready to bloom. This is only half the plant; the wind put the other half off to the right. :D One of my favorite Salvias to date, a patens I got during my last shopping spree! The blooms on this baby are over an inch long! And the blue color is a LOT deeper in person, without flash from a camera to wash it out. Tiny blooms from my S. viscosa. They're small, but they're so pretty up close - with dark blotching on the bottom lips - and the bloom stems are pretty tall. My little, newly purchased 'Blue Hawaii' Colocasia (taro) sent out this big leaf during the last heat spell. It's patiently waiting for more heat before sending out more. :) My Sedum gathering, with assorted succulents, oregano, mint...basically, attention deficit stuff. LOL And FINALLY (sorry for all the pics!!), my blue dawn flower finds me worthy of blooms this year. Just starting out, but I hope she cranks out more of them the warmer it gets. Thanks for looking! The fall blooming aster bloomed here a few weeks ago. Copper canyon daisy has also been flowering since early spring as has Senna corymbosa that Carrie recommended. Shall we give the spring rains after a mild winter credit? BTW, mums I've had through the years often bloomed spring and fall. The dark red one I have now passed along by Barbra is blooming.
