Fall swap-how many would be interested?

Cecilia (aka Cecilia_MD7a) and I have talked and would be willing to co-host a Fall swap. I live in Catonsville (about ten minutes away from BWI airport just outside of Baltimore) so would be hosting there. If I could get an idea of how many people would be interested in participating it would give me a better idea of whether I can just use my yard or make arrangements with the school across the street to use their parking lot. Likely I'd be looking at late September/early October to do this. Please respond if you'd be interested and by late August I'll nail down a date.

I'm always up for a swap. I favor a mid to late October time so it will be cooler both for the swap and to plant what I bring home.

If the amount of wintersown seedlings I still have left to pot up is any standard, I should have a ton of stuff to give away after I'm done with farmers market at the end of September.

Early Oct. sounds good...when can you set a date? If the weather doesn't go south just before the date, I'm contemplating a big change in part of my backyard's layout that will involve digging out a number of plants. I'll try to list some of those items just before the trade date. Tom, it seems there's always a "left behind" item to help keep us in touch...lol. BTW, you have email!

Would be the right time now. I just hope the gas prices don't go any higher. That will affect everyone who, like me, has a fair bit to drive to get to Ottawa, especially to the west-end. Other than that, the plants have been multiplying like crazy. Lots of fresh seeds, too. The best part for me, besides meeting so many nice people in spring, was that every plant or seedling, that I hauled home, transplanted well. So, what's the prefered date and location? Imogen

I'd be very interested. Part of my "mission" this summer is to collect perennials from as many sources as are willing to give them and overwinter them until May. Unfortunately, most of them are the shady variety since I don't much sun in my yard but there are some "sunny" ones in the space I do have with sun. I know I already have some things I know what they are and some I don't. I'll be bringing these to the swap but don't know right now exactly what that will be. Could I be more vague? Thanks treebarb for giving me Karen's email address and phone number! I spoke with her this evening and she said she would love to have the additional help in the gardens (Kim - she is sooo appreciative for all the work people have been doing there, so thanks so much for organizing that!!!), as well as have her garden be the location for the 2012 fall swap! So now we just need to decide which Sunday will work for most folks to attend, as well as best time. I'm thinking Sunday Oct. 7th would be the earliest to plan on, since that's only 2 weeks away. Karen said that she usually doesn't get home from her second shift until 7am, but she normally doesn't go to bed until evening since she has the rest of Sunday off - and she would really like to join us at the swap. So what about starting off with working in the gardens from 10 - 11:30, then a pot luck (Karen said we were welcomed to do so if we want to. She has some tables we can use if need be.) from 12 - 1 (11:30 - 12 set up time), and then swap after that. If that is too long of a day for folks, maybe we just skip the pot luck this time and do the swap starting at 11:30. So please post to this thread if you can attend and if Oct 7th from 10 - ? will work for you - if not, please suggest a different date and/or time. Also please vote for whether or not to do the pot luck. Thanks! Marj

Count me in. Early October sounds good, that will just be in time when I'm cleaning up my yard and re-arranging & thinning out plants from my garden. How about either Saturday or Sunday before Columbus Day?

Drat! I was about to bounce in early and suggest a fall swap at our traditional fall swap location of Black Hill Park in Germantown (a location which is extremely convenient for, um, me) -- but I see that I wasn't anywhere near early enough :-)!

Usually the fall swap has been around Columbus Day weekend.

October works for me. I expect summer to last through november this year, the weather has been so crazy. I;ve enjoyed watching most of the spring swap trades stabilize! A few succumbed to animal predators (chipmunks, moles, deer, squirrels) and drought/flood depending on the week. Lisa

I would love to attend a fall swap! This would be my first one and I'm really excited to try one out. Any general rules on the swaps? I think I could talk my sister into going too.
