Comments (2)did someone say hoyas??? Now there is a market to fill! Seems to me that Exotic Angel is the only big seller of hoyas these days, and though the selection is good, it is only the tip of the iceburg! The only drawback is - and I am speaking only for my area - most of the garden centers have been pushed out of the plant business by places like Home Depot. They can't very well charge the higher prices they want to charge anymore when the customer can drive to the Depot and get the same plant for $8.98. So if you are going to sell to these garden centers, you will have to have prices that are low enough for them to turn around and sell at a competitive price with the big box stores and still make a profit. But hey, I don't know much about business. I grow most of my hoyas from cuttings I get from other growers, but that is not to say that I wouldn't buy a full size plant if I came across one...actually, I'd be thrilled to see something other than the same old selection that EA has been putting out for years....See MoreWhat would you do, if you had to start over?
Comments (32)I am so sorry to hear of your loss. You will be in my thoughts. This just takes my breath away. Two years ago I outfitted the galley of a very small sailboat. After two years at sea the report was that I did a pretty good job of it. I'll try to recall what I purchased or sent from my own kitchen. I made an effort to supply things that had more than one use and/or could nest for storage or were small. Everything had to be nonferrous, nonelectric for the most part, and unbreakable as well. Pressure cooker Stock pot and lid Collapsable silicon steamer/colander that fit neatly inside the stock pot for steaming 2 quart thick bottom stainless pot with lid Enameled fry pan, could also go into the oven and the stock pot lid fit it Nonstick fry pan Large good quality chef's knife and steel Small utility knife Vegetable peeler Flexible cutting boards, set Small teflon cutting board Assorted baking pans, loaf, round, square, 9x13 Broiling pan Mallet meat tenderizer Coffee grinder French press Small mortar and pestle Pepper mill Ladles Silicon spatulas Regular egg-flipper type spatula Bamboo spoons Medium sized whisk Batter/mixing bowl with handle - it also was melamine and had a nonskid bottom Set of measuring cups Set of measuring spoons Wine opener/church key Strainer with handle Several microplane graters Assorted herbs and spices Kitchen timer Oven gauge Meat thermometer Can opener Bread knife Kitchen shears Tongs Camping toaster Potato masher Slotted spoon Small blender Electric water kettle, there were times when they could be docked and plugged in Additional things I would suggest for a regular kitchen: Food processor Cast iron skillet Griddle pan, nonstick Grill pan, cast iron Ceramic pie dish Covered casserole dishes, oval, square, round, whatever pleases Bundt pan, nonstick Large covered saute pan Dutch oven Muffin tin Mixer, hand or stand Toaster Cooling racks for baked goods Pizza stone Springform pan Waffle iron Additional mixing bowls Outdoor grill (the boat had a small grill) Crock pot Odd things I love having: Ice cream maker Fish poacher Popcorn popper Canning equipment Crepe pan Pasta machine, mine is manual I'm sure I forgot a few things that went into the boat galley but that's most of it. I also sent plastic dishes, glasses, and stainless tableware....See MoreWhat color backsplash would you chose and can you suggest a grani
Comments (18)nosoccermom - I love the look that why I chose the two together. I knew I always wanted a backsplash like that. I want the backsplash to be the main attraction lol. And the photos above are similar to my cabinet style with similar colors. When I look on the cabinet brand website they have those same cabinets with similar backsplash. By saying "it dont bother me" just means it really doesnt cause I didnt even notice it until it was pointed out - I love the backsplash styles I chose and also love the cabinets. I guess I wont really see the big picture until everything is done. And when I look around at kitchens with raised panels most are traditional backsplashes and I really didnt want a traditional backsplash. I guess I will hold off ordering my backsplash and once my cabinets are installed I'll go from there (which I probably was going to do this anyway lol) - Thank you so much for your help. Comments (27)Larry, I have to agree with you about The Far Pavillions. My sister in law kept telling me how wonderful it was and how much I would like it. I'd take it out of the library, look at it and end up taking it back, unread, a few weeks later. She even gave me a paperback copy for my birthday (she was persistant) that sat on my bookshelf for months. Finally, one day I picked it up and started reading it. I couldn't put it down. I read all but the last 3 or 4 chapters in one sitting. I'd have finished it that night except I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer....See Morerobin_maine
