Japanese Maple Repotting Mishap

I have a lovely Japanese Maple (don't know the variety) that we grew from a seedling a few years back. It's thrived and become a beautiful potted tree. Recently, we transplanted it into a new pot, one that, unfortunately, did not have adequate drainage. Within two weeks, the leaves shriveled and died. We removed the tree from the pot, drilled additional drainage holes, and repotted it again. There are still a few green leaves (very few) so I do believe the tree is still alive. Assuming all goes well, how long before we might see a new flush of leaves?
