My house is yellow with white trim and flowers all around it (however most of the flowers will probably be faded for the year). If you need other directions to my home, please contact me.

As usual, we will have one of those potluck deally thingies for food. I will have all beverages - coffee, pop and other "stronger" drinks. Please bring whatever you want for food.

We will have the swap first (which I would imagine will actually commence around 11:30ish) and eat afterwards.

I believe most of you viewers out there know how these swaps operate. But a quick low-down is as follows: you bring your unwanted plants, overgrown plants or kind contributions to the swap. Try to label the plants, with minor descriptions if possible ( . . IÂm normally bad at getting this done). The swap starts by each person describing to everyone what he or she brought. We then start "round one" by each person selecting one plant out of all the plants that people brought. Then "round two" each person selects two plants. Round three (you guessed it), each person selects three plants. Then, usually from there it is a free-for-all where everyone can take whatever they want for leftover plants. If no one takes the plants that you bring, feel free to leave them at my place. I could probably create a home for all the poor unwanted plants out there.

For the fall swap, I would imagine that most plants would be perennials, but anything is welcome. I suppose you could bring seeds, but there is also a special GW seed swap every winter as well. If you have any bulbs to share, that would make a great contribution to the swap as well.

You may also want to bring a wagon to haul your plants around and a pen/notepad to take notes while people are explaining what they brought for plants.

I wish I could go but I am obligated elsewhere that day. Is there anyone who could stop by on their way to Adam's to grab a few things? I live right on the north edge of Saint Paul on Larpenteur Ave.

Super! Thanks so much! One more question, I swear. I pulled plants previously and they look rather sad since we get such cold weather here early. Should I pick large plants or divisions for the swap? I don't want to be the only one who brings "wimpy looking" or sad plants, ha-ha! Also, pots, my amount of pots are sparse. I have pots but I don't want to get rid of them all for the swap. Can we bring plants in coffee can containers or I also use old 2 littler bottles cut down, with holes in the bottom to promote drainage as a way to recycle what we use in our home. Course, again, I don't want to seem "cheap." Thanks so much and sorry I seemed frantic before, I was just hmm, frantic. I also bake so I'm planning on bringing chocolate no bake cookies that are more like fudge, and new miracle grow feeder bottles with the garden hose attachment and some other goodie bags I made up. I was going to give them at Christmas to encourage family members to start a garden and decided against that because it will be snowing around that time. Thanks and I can't wait to be there!!! Hello all! I was just getting around to logging on to thank you all for the wonderful plants that you offered me in the spring. I took some pictures, but am having trouble uploading... The monarda was lovely, the grasses came in well, the rudbeckia and echinacea have been blooming for quite some time now -- as has the balloon flower! The lilies are all done blooming now, but boy were they lovely! The sedum just started blooming about a week or so ago. The hosta has done well in spite of the slug population this year. Oh and the philadelphus was so lovely -- the scent and the sweet flowers. The styrax japionica has been given a special place in our family as my daughter's tree. I thank you all for these wonderful growing gifts, and will definately join you again in September (hopefully this time the lemon tart won't melt in my car). Incidentally, the vege garden, which is usually the prolific part of my yard, severely underproduced this year. Perhaps it was too much rain. I'll be lucky if I get a handful of tomatoes from the 15 plants that I planted. :( I would be interested in a lilac. Also have room for some Anemone and blanket flower, if ya'll have enough. Cannot wait!

Thanks for finding that pic, PopMama! I looked thru several pages and if it came up on my search I completely missed it! Liz, what you described at the swap was "more pink," so I hope what you remember is right! Please don't spend all your time looking for your pic, but if you should happen to run into it sometime over winter I would enjoy seeing it! If you don't run into it I will--hopefully--get to see it up-close-and-personal in spring! When that happens I will definitely be taking some of my own pics--however since google catastrophized WebAlbums a month ago I don't know if I'm even able to post links to my pics anymore! You mentioned that one of the Iris I got ['Superstition' and 'Abigail Provides'] was "shorter" than "others"--I think! If you did, was it 'Superstition' that was the shorter one? In the last couple days I got some big (2-3' X 18") patches of the "bad dirt" dug out along the walk by the side of my deck and, saving the more friable soil that was there, I've added a whole buncha home-grown, almost finished, compost to what was left! Have a "decent place" to plant both Iris now and am planning to get them in the ground tomorrow! I also saved some of the "better" natural soil to use when I dig out the potter's clay by the front walk where the peony is going! Will be completely removing the potter's clay, replacing it with my "saved" "better" natural soil, and then adding a WHOLE LOT of compost out there--including some that isn't quite so "almost finished!" Will be transplanting some worms too! I'm gonna make a Good Home for that peony! When I looked up the pics of it, one of the Way Cool things about it was how very different all the pics look--and, remembering you had said how much it "changed" from day to day, I'm really looking forward to seeing a few flowers on that too! Will be surprised if I get any next spring, but, with "good soil," I expect it to be taking off by the following spring! Can hardly wait! I had to water it in when I put it in the pot--my store bought soil is just "moist" when I use it, but, except for watering it in to "settle the soil" when I put it in the ground I'll leave it alone all winter--unless we get an extremely dry winter! Part of my reason for improving the soil in a pretty large area is so I'll know it has good drainage, so if we should get a snowy winter I won't have to worry about it sitting in WET CLAY! Thank you again for bringing such "cool" plants! (Yes, I realize everybody's definition of "cool plants" is different!) to swap! Since I already have so many things, and since people have started to bring things they originally got from me I don't often find many things that I want or don't already have, and this is the first swap in a long time where I was salivating and waiting to "pick!" BUT! I'll have you know that you created quite a "problem" for me!!! With my tiny yard I really did need to do some thinkin' to figure out where to put my new booty! Adam, how can we miss "the best fall swap ever"!!! Too bad you are so far. Good idea to include seeds, bulbs, ets. I winter sow the first time last winter, except that most of them dried out because I forgot to water them. They probably would have survived had I planted them in the ground in the fall.

Marie, since you are so close, I can come pick up your plants a day or two before. If you pre-arrange trades, I can pick them up for you too. Just let me know when to come by.

Well . . so far we have three people for the plant swap (including myself). For this to be the best fall swap ever, I'm hoping a few more people can make it. I think I will go forward with the swap regardless of how many people can attend. I really don't want to reschedule any later into the fall because we need to get the plants planted and established before the cold sets in.

Adam, your post must came up when I was typing mine. Anyway, if you don't want to reschedule, hope more people will sign up between now and then. Julie, are you coming for sure? If we coordinate what we have and what we want, we can still make it a good swap. Please let me know what you want. I have plenty of raspberries, strawberries and lily of the valleys. If you want them, I'll bring them. If not, please let me know too. I hate to dig them up, if no one wants them. Also, let me know what you want. If I have them, I'll bring them. As for me, any easy to grow flowers, especially showy and/or very fragrant ones, edible fruits, berries, nuts, ground covering for shady and dry place, etc. would be great. Oh, yes, blood root, if you have them. I am not fuzzy, if you do not have plants, cuttings and seeds are OK too. Julie, I can bring you a cutting of cereus.

May- as far as requests go- do you have any hosta? Iris? Hardy Hibiscus? Mums? Hen and Chicks? Tree Peonies? Pulmonaria? Lilies- other than Tiger lilies?

Julie, what hosta are you looking for? I have mostly the common green hosta, a Patriot from Leftwood and a green one with narrow white edges. I have the common blue iris, pink garden mums, Sorbet Peony and daylily. The daylilies are mostly the common orange ones, but there is a shorter yellow one, maybe Stella de Oro. Let me know what you would like and I'll dig them up. Oh, any one have shrubs to spare?

Marie, I have a few things to do today. Plan to stop by your house mid-afternoon or, if I am behind schedule, early evening.
