I was thinking it would have to be the geranium (pellie type/annual) or alyssum...oh no it must be the dandelion.

My gloriosa daisies start around the end of July and bloom right up until hard freeze.

Are you talking perennials? I planted that new geranium 'Rozanne' last spring and it bloomed from the time I put it into the ground til well past several frosts.

Yes, 'Blue Satin' is a cultivar of Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus). Chaste tree is Vitex agnus-castus and mine is more a large shrub rather than a tree, but it could be pruned to a small tree. Mine is starting to bloom right now and will continue until frost. I'd also say that although weedy, Golden Rain Tree (Koelreuteria paniculata) blooms for 4 to 6 weeks here. The difference in bloom times between individual trees makes their bloom season last as long as nearly 3 months. But I'd have to say one of the longest blooming trees for me is Southern Magnolia(Magnolia grandiflora), which started blooming about 10 days ago for me and will continue blooming until late July. A couple of cultivars will rebloom here from September until as late as November, but most years they rebloom some in September and early October. Again, that's for me in Eastern Kansas. Down South some cultivars('Little Gem') will bloom almost non-stop from late April through November.

Depends what is meant by long blooming - in my book, I am looking for a good 10-12 weeks, or 2 or 3 good flushes throughout the season (with certain caveats). Rehmannia alata has been in prolific bloom for 3 months, now, with no signs of slowing down. The shrubby salvias (greggii et al.) can go on for 6 or more months, as can some penstemons, I have a delightful mimulus aurantiacus which will bloom throughout the summer for many weeks, as well as various hardy geraniums, many of which have already been noted. Sterile hybrid digitalis will continue to bloom, as will a sterile polemonium, Lambrooke Mauve. Pelargoniums,, nemesia, diascias and bacopa are long blooming pot/bedding plants,....but I am avoiding getting into either half-hardy perennials (which we regard as annuals) nor do I really want to delve into heavy dead-heading territory. If you are vigilant about this (unlike me), campanulas can be induced to bloom for the entire season, as can some dianthus...in fact, many plants will go on for months if prevented from setting seed. But, for lazy and negligent types who just want a lot of blooming with minimal effort, the amellus asters are easy and failsafe, along with limonium, bupleurum, eryisimum, erodium, callirhoe.

My longest bloomers were Colorado Moonfire. (It actually was my first and last to bloom, and it had five bloom cycles with at least two scapes every time...and I had moved it last year to what I thought would be a better place. Must have been a better place. Not a fancy bloom, but what a workhorse! Pink Gingham: Four bloom cycles, and multiple blooms as well. Purple Maze: Multiple bloom cycles; not a lot of blooms at one time, but blooms for a long time, and another with multiple cycles. Philistine Champion: Like the Energizer bunny. Kept going and going. Brazen Bandit: bloomed all the long season with few interruptions and Mask of Time: Plain but plentiful blooms from the beginning to the end of the season. As you all kow, this was a very unusual season because of the mild weather and early start. I've had a couple of three cycles blooms before, but never like this. Great thread Debra. Kay

It's kind of hard to say just going by zone, whether or not rebloomers have time enough to bloom again and make the offsets they need to make to keep on going for the next year. It depends more on the length of your frost free period, which is different than zone. Zone just talks about the average minimum temps you experience. I have very short frost free period, and I have had iris attempt to rebloom but the bloomstalks got frosted before they could open. I have Black Magic, a IM historic that did rebloom once, and one that was a mislabel that looks like Jesse's Song that tried to rebloom but was frozen. So mostly I go for a longer initial bloom period. Some that bloom for a long time for me are Ask Alma which is an IM that blooms early like IM's do, but blooms along with all the TB's, with a few flowers even along with the late ones. This was a surprise since it has a sort of shocking coral pink that I thought would be good with my early plants, but having it around with some of the later ones was sort of ugly. But there it was. With the right garden planning it would be a good plant. I have an unnamed blue TB historic that blooms for a very long time, and looks pretty good with Ask Alma so I keep them together. Sheer Bliss blooms for me in a good year from early mid time through to late, but when we have late frosts it doesn't tolerate it well and gets stunted. Last year I started border style zinnias (Peter Pans in this case) under lights and they already had their first blooms when I set them out the first week of June. They bloomed continuously up to very near frost. That was about four months of continous bloom. Pansies did nearly as well. I think several other annual flowers also bloom over a long season. This year I plan to start some petunias early under lights, and try some new zinnias as well.

Lily, it's a lt. purple. Very pretty, but it really does sprawl and tumble over other plants. Imagine a trailing geranium.

'Rozanne' is patented and supposedly not too easy to grow from cuttings. I got mine at Green Mt. Transplants in Arundel. They were actually small plants in 4" pots, so I was really surprised they grew and bloomed so well their first year.

MM, aren't zinnias great?

South American marigolds always performed great for me - a good solid three months of bloom when planted from seed in the spring. Johnny jump-ups would be my die hard leader though.

I didnt find Rozanne, and the supplier I checked out was out of it. But I will keep an eye out for it as My cranesbill dont sprawl just mound up and fall, cut them back and let them try it again. This Rozanne has me wanting to see it! :)

Pansies and johnny jump ups are high maintenance until I decided to save the seeds! Then it was more fun to deadhead. I too, love them all the same.

I threw out some old seed at the end of July for cut and come again zinnias last year and they bloomed that fall and held on to the hard frost.

I had WS'd Malva 'Zebrina' that bloobed from the beginning of june through the first handful frosts! I'm trying a bunch of differant color Malva this year!

With deadheading Gaillardia 'Goblin' will bloom from mid-June through the end of October in the midcoast.

My daylilies bloom their hearts out all summer long. I keep a few cultivars for each part of the season to keep up the bloom cycle, but they all love the cool air, hot sun combo. Potted Dahlias do great too, as long as I watch the drainage. Also, my Clematis Fascination (see link) doesn't stop blooming all summer. Oh, almost forgot Anemones! They're a pain to keep weeded, but they give non-stop color.

You mentioned WS. Is that Wayside Gardens? I did search on them for the Zebrina and didn't find that. But I did find a Marina mallow. It's blue. Is that the one you meant or should I keep searching? Thanks.
