Disease causing lily buds to curl?

Hi Lily Lovers,

I've searched and searched, but can't find mention of something quite like what my lilies are doing -- I'm hoping you can help.

Many, but not quite all, of the buds on my lilies are curling strangely. They are not brown, nor are any of the upper leaves. There are no odd spots or bugs visible to me. The petals within the buds just seem to be curling in, sometimes exposing the innards of the flower-to-be, in the most severe cases.

This happened to only a few buds on one or two plants last year, and I don't recall exactly, but I think those buds failed to bloom and eventually shriveled up and died (I could be wrong though). This year, it seems to be happening to all the plants, and almost all of the buds on each, to varying degrees of severity.

Does anyone know what this is? I'm hoping it's not viral....

I've got two photos here:
