Thanks for taking the test! Everyone is savy to form. Hosenemesis nailed each one. 1, 3, 5, and 7 are Stairway To Heaven. Even numbers are Dover Beach. That wider form is often called 'blocky'. I think when Edith Wolford was introduced she was described as 'blocky'. The older form without ruffles is sometimes called 'classic'.

I can second the climate effect. I didn't recognize an iris I've had for 10 years --- a cold spring enriched the colors beautifully. Owyhee Desert sounds like a mismark. Pink Froth looks like a plicata from 4 pics I've seen (with a very light fall rimmed in the standards' blue-pink color). Printed catalogs, as mentioned, can be way off on colors. It would be too expensive to produce top quality color printing. AND Pictures on the net can be quite off!! We were treated to pics of iris on the gallery this year by 2 people using Canon Rebels. Whoa. Made my pics look like dog meat. Lastly a monitor's calibration may be off. And viewing indoors with incandescent lighting is even different from daylight. I often lighten a picture to see how the iris will really appear. Oversaturation in digital pics. is common.

Well, my deer ate my lilies AND roses, shasta daisies and callirhoe. She ignored things like echinacea and liatris. Next year, I think I'm going to lay down chicken wire around my beds, as I understand they don't like walking on it, and you can mow right over it. Fencing is not an option. I find that daylilies are extremely tough. Remember the old orange "ditch lilies"? I STILL see them growing along country roads in terrible soil with no water in sight. I don't remember the yellow ones' name. It is really more of a gold double. Also have the dwarf "Stella with Black Eye" and the "Red Stella". No problems with them. They bloom first and longest. Bob Scott's Nursery west of OKC carries lots and lots of lilies. He is a hybridizer and has some very fancy lilies, most of which I can't afford. However, if you go to his website, you can find many pix and get some ideas. When you talk to people in the Hemerocallis club, they don't like Stella, either. Too common, I think. The different flower clubs have shows at Will Rogers' Park in OKC. What fun, and you can purchase some of their plants: Daylilies, Iris, Succulents, etc. Again, you have to get on Will Rogers Park website and check out when these events occur. One year I went, and they were having their Daylily and Koi show at the same time. I had a "ball" looking at all the beautiful flowers and fish! I was absolutely amazed that these people would set up these huge tanks and bring in their fanciest Koi! Some of these fish are worth many hundreds of dollars. Sorry, got off the subject a bit, but it is definitely worth the trip to attend some of these shows, not to mention, the park itself is beautiful. Lovely pictures! Your No ID #1 looks like Monsignor (Vilmorin 1907) to me. Is it on the short side?

Wow! Your iris's are absolutely gorgeous. I have 'one' iris that I've had for three years now. I've never seen a bloom on it yet, just green leaves. I don't know what kind it is either as someone gave it to me. Sure wish I knew what it would look like with a flower on it. Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos.

cadence~~ Are your Iris in full sun? They like to be in full sun and not to much water, a little fertalizer in spring. Thank you for the response. G

I purchased a small pond (second hand) off Craigslist about 3 years ago. The guy who sold it to me said 'I have some iris's that were growing in or around the pond and you can have this one. Anyway, when I got it home, I noticed there were rocks in it and all wrapped up in some net. I removed it all and put it in a pond basket and it grew really tall but no flowers. It was in the sun. Then I ended up getting raccoons trashing all my plants so I got rid of the pond. I then planted the iris between my hydrangea and lilac tree. The leaves are green. It gets morning sun and afternoon shade. I have a small perennial garden that gets morning shade and afternoon sun. Should I move it there? When would be a good time to move it?

You have the most beautiful iris's I have ever seen...and I would love to see a flower on just my one. lol

I would move it now!. Trim off the fan to about 4". Put it where it will get the most sun you can give it. It is probably not a tall bearded Iris! they do not like wet roots. There are water Iris, Google it and see if you can match the leaves to one of them. They like wet feet and lots of sun.

Hi Aquawise, thank you again. First thing tomorrow I will cut the to 4" and plant it in my perennial garden that faces west. It will get a lot more sun there. If it is a water iris, then I should water it often? I will take one of the leaves and see if I can match it to any pics that I see on Google. Thank you sooooo much for your help.
