Tree-form limelight

The limelight I have recently planted appears tree-like. When I bought it I had to have it--it had some blooms on it and I was instantly smitten. But now I wonder if, from what I have read on past messages, if this is going to be a problem for a plant that apparently gets to be quite tall. Is it able to change its form into more of a bush? Everything right now comes from one stem that is about 3 or 4 inches up--from there it becomes more bushlike. Or will this "trunk" become more "trunk"-like by growing taller itself past this 3 to 4 inches?

If this is truely a tree-form, how does that affect the spread of the plant. The tag says 6 to 8 foot spread... I take that to mean for a shrub. I planted this too close in a corner of a picket I think, did it in a hurry. I am thinking a shrub with a spread will correct itself but a tree-form will not.

Tree-form is fine and might be better, if that is what this is, but can it handle its own blooms if so.
