One new Bloom Today

Fragrant Lilas was the only new bloom today:

My iris are really winding down now, but since they've been blooming over a month, I can't complain.

My only spuria iris has really bloomed well this year too.

That is a pretty iris, I like the spuria iris too! My iris are starting to wind down too. Plenty of blooms left, but only a few late ones left to bloom.

Lovely soft coloring on that bearded iris. But truely, the one that steals the show for me is that Spuria iris. Just gorgeous and such an unusual color. I only have one spuria but it has never bloomed. Maybe this year.

I LOVE Smoky Mtn Autumn. I have it too, but has not bloomed. I love the Zinnia also. I have zinnia coming up from seed. I rake and dig so much in early spring I hardly have zinnias come back from the year before. Love all your clump shots. Sarah

Very nice Avedon. I like the first one of the unknown seedling. Nice eye on it. Your blooms are opening perfectly and that clump of Siloam Double Classic is so pretty. Doubles remind me of peonies. Keep posting and I see you have another thread of the lilies so I'll go check that one out. Julia

Jean, You will surely love Moonlit Masquerade. It is a fast increaser for me, and continues to bloom for weeks, and it only gets 5 hours of direct sun/day. It's also very pod & pollen fertile! No wonder it was a Stout Silver Medal winner in '04! Your Bunny Puff blooms remind me of fine Porcelain, for some reason. Lovely pics! Julie

Kay, I agree with Rita that some DL's really need to settle in before they show off their true potential. In my garden, I have noticed that some take A LOT more time to settle in than others too. I was ready to kick PRINCE OF MIDNIGHT out into the woods after four years of just kind of sitting there, and this year it was just amazing. Maybe it knew that it better perform or else....
