GARDEN VISIT/PLANT SWAP/POTLUCK Date: Sunday May 3rd, 2009-rain or shine Please email me for address. Arrive 10:00 AM (unload plants and food in driveway and park across road. Walk around garden, socialize, etc. potluck 12 noon Afternoon-plant swap(informal or prearranged trades), visits to nearby public plantings of hardy palms, crape myrtles, etc. TRADING MATERIALS:Labeled plants, cuttings (rooted or unrooted), shrubs, bulbs, seedlings, seeds, garden ornaments,garden magazines, extra gardening implements, or any other garden-related items. POT LUCK: Please bring a lunch dish (with serving utensil) to enjoy and share. Bring a chair if you have one (extra chairs here if needed). Plates, plastic silverware, napkins, cups, and iced tea & water will be provided. This will be an enjoyable day filled with plants, good plant talk, and delicious food. In addition, there will be a side trip to visit nearby public plantings which include cold-tolerant palms, which have done well over this winter. Feel free to bring a friend. Wesson Garden Club Plant Swap Thursday, March 8, 2007 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Thames Center Copiah-Lincoln Community College You are invited to attend a program hosted by the Wesson Garden Club and the Thames Conference Center on Thursday, March 8, 2007. Registration begins at 2:00 p.m. Bring a single well-established (well-rooted, not "just dug") plant to exchange. I'm not a member of the Silver Spring Garden Club myself, so if there is a member reading this forum, maybe they can add more information. But it looks like a semiformal swap. People bring plants, which are then sorted into groups like sun perennials, part sun peremnials, part shade, house plants, herbs etc. People get a chance to browse. Then groups of people are called forward to each select one plant, then called forward to select another, then another round until most plants have been taken. Left overs are then free for the taking. This is somewhat more formal than the MAG swap, where people just put plants out beside their car and browsers just pick up what they want (except for the "pre-arranged trades" which are marked for people by name). In the MAG swap, food (read chocolate) substitutes for bringing plants, doesn't appear so for the Silver Spring Garden Club.
