Love my hostas but have a question (insight really) My dog ran over my hosta and ripped some of the stems away from the plant (NO ROOTS just the stem and leaf)...I put them in water to keep alive for a few weeks and low and behold it sprouted what looked like roots right from the stem...if I plant this will the grow into a new hosta?

Anyone??

I am not the expert here, but I have read here that if it has roots it will grow. It must have had a bit of crown on it too? Bottom line what have you got to lose trying? As far as you having a leaf in water, I have been reading Hosta leaves are the latest in chic arrangements in the house.

sounds like you can plant it! I would guess there was a tiny piece of crown material attached to the leaf and it has decided to grow roots.

    Congrats!

You won't know until you try it. And what have you got to lose? Go for it...
