Iris bulb storage

Hello, I am new to gardening with bulbs. I recently moved back to my childhood home which had bulbs probably 35+ years old. In relandscaping, I needed to remove the bulbs. I have washed them, separated them, thrown away the ones with soft spots. I am about to put them in a dry place for several days so the cuts can scab and the bulbs dry.

My question is: after they scab and dry, would it be okay to put them in onion sacks or paper grocery bags and hang them in the garage until planting time? I will be planting them in a lot next to us that we are planning to buy soon.

Living in zone 8, with freezes beginning in Dec., what month would be best to plant the bulbs?

Again, thank you for your help.

I am open to suggstions and input.

Respectfully
