I planted my Snow Mountain tree last night!

It's been an incredible week, with substantial rainfall every day! What a treat, esp. after the recent drought! Anyway, with this cool and wet weather, I decided to plant the Snow Mountain tree in the ground. It took me a couple of nights after work to complete the job, but it's finally done and here's where it is:

I took the photo before I mulched the area tonight. I really like how it looks there! It's in a highly visible area from all angles, showcasing this beauty very well.

Oh, I didn't tell you that I did almost hit the sprinkler line last night! Ouch.... that's why I didn't dare to enlarge the existing bed that much. Anyway, the tree trunk is now 6' away from the deck rails.

So do you like how I enlarged the bed with a peninsula? Or should I have made it a big circle around the deck? What should I underplant there? (I know George and yg would kill me now for not planning ahead with the plants in place, but I wanted to take advantage of this rainy weather!)
