Found a small Rainbows End the other day,and here it is planted in my garden. Does anyone else grow it? Pics? Phil

Sure do! New last year. A "take a look at me" cutie, especially in flower.

After talking to Chamblee's and sending a photo they concluded I do indeed have the climber. They have never offered the climber for sale so aren't quite sure what happened. They did send me a replacement bush and it is already growing and putting on flowers. Since I didn't have anywhere to plant a climber I put it in a 22" pot with a trellis for support. In 4 short weeks it has more than quadrupled in size and this week started putting on blooms. I'll have to find a spot of ground for it in the spring.

Unfortunately I don't have anywhere to plant it in the ground right now. Maybe by spring I can have a location in a bed where I can put a trellis. For now I will get a trellis that goes in a pot and move it to a bigger pot. It is in a 14" pot right now and I'll move it up to a 22". We will be putting in fences and sprinklers and grass next May so it will just have to be in a pot until after that. Yours is very pretty! They said for me to just keep it or give it away, whatever I want to do with it.

Yes, our normal rainy season is Oct/Nov to April/May. Then we normally get NO RAIN, not one drop, from June through Sept (4 mo), and sometimes from May through Oct( 6mo). So, I always laugh when folks from areas where it rains intermittently all Summer brag about giving their roses "no supplemental water"! I know nothing about foxgloves, except once I when I was touring the Vintage Gardens garden at its height, they had tall white foxgloves all over the garden, and they looked great with the roses. I tried planting some in my garden, but all of the ones I tried got 7-8 feet tall, and fell over, and were annoying. So, I gave up, but still looked at them in catalogues. This year I found one kind which claims to only get 18-24 inches tall (which I do not believe, at least not in my garden - everything in my garden seems to get at least twice as tall as advertised, but that would still only be 4 feet high). I ordered them from Spring Hill - these are the ones which just showed up. They are called ""Polkadot Polly". In the pictures they look pink with sort of gold/brown throats. Then I found another one in a Dutch Gardens catalogue which they claim only gets 30 inches high, which I doubled to 5 feet, but that it still way better than 8 feet! I ordered some - they are called Dalmatian Peach, and are supposed to bloom the first year. They look pale peachy pink with orangey throats. They have not arrived yet. Jackie

Hi Esther, A few more guesses from me- hoping to help you out: Maybe there is a root stealing the water (or choking out) Rainforest Sunrise? Have you checked the roots? A little poking around the surrounding soil for a moisture and root and crown check can provide answers. And believe it or not, a photo that is zoomed in reveals much more than what is usually noticed by merely looking at the plant tissue with "bare eyes" (I speak from my recent personal experience). As I have recently learned (with my Rhino Hide hosta issue) is to dig it up if possible to get the to "root" of the issue- anything else, as Ken_Adrian wisely noted, is just speculation. :) You probably know this, but just worth repeating: Wilty soggy yellowing leaves may be signal of overwatering ( beginning to rot somwhere- crown, stem or root), while crispy dried out yellow turning to brown leaves usually signals dehydration. If you feel with your fingers that the ground/soil an inch or two underneath is dry in the area of Rainforest Sunrise maybe you are correct that the soaker hose is failing (because that is not unheard of from what I have read online). But then the other areas further down that hose would also be dried out an inch or two under the soil- not just on the surface. Poke around the other hostas further down the hose to check your theory. Hope you find the answer soon!

Now here it is today. It was very plump when it was emerging and in terms of elongation of leaves - two weeks ago they were still round so all in all, good growth progress. A colourful small hosta and growing well - increased some from last year but I don't know by how much.

Yours looks very lustrous and was protected from prolonged sunlight before you bought it? Lovely, Phil! If you restrained yourself and picked up just one, I congratulate your self-discipline! Lol

Lol, you ARE as weak as some of the rest of us! HA HA. And...I thought I'd better show you what you can expect next spring as well. Of course it will survive the winter - YOU have the touch and are a terrific custodian of hostas, so there! :-)

Mine doesn't match up to josephine's but here it is. It was new last Sept. and I'm looking forward to it growing up.

I love this one! Looks almost like plastic. Here's mine, a photo from last year, purchased in 2009. It threw off a green sport this spring that died when I removed it.

its such a nice smaller hosta. Mine was a shrinky dink last year, having been one of my winter victims. This year it seems to be back on track.

I just got it this year and I love it already..Its still in a pot waiting on the right place and the slugs seem to love it..hope I can get it to better, safer placement soon..Already becoming my favorite.

Wow! Thanks everyone! Glad to see what mine may look like in a few years. Now,I gotta go water it,as it seems the rain has stopped around these parts. It never fails to amaze me,that as soon as I plant a new one,the rain stops! Phil
