Is this a nutrient deficiency?

I am a beginner in hydroponics & have 2 tomato plants & 2 green pepper plants in a Garden of Ease unit. I am using Advanced Nutrients Grow, Bloom, & Flora Hardwater Micro. I have been keeping the PH between 6 & 6.5. The plants were already started when I bought them & I started them in the unit on 5/19. The unit is kept outdoors (for the moment) & the water carefully monitored to make sure the level doesn't drop.

All of the plants have holes in them, but the biggest concern is the tomato plants. The young leaves are curling upwards & then dying. The older leaves do the same, but also have a brownish color to them. Is this some sort of deficiency? Also, how do I know when the vegetative stage is over & the flowering stage begins? Is there a certain amount of time? Sorry if these questions sound stupid, but I'm very new at this & this is my 2nd attempt at it. The 1st attempt, all the tomato plants did were grow wild, they never did fruit.

Thank you for any help you can give!
