Irises or wild onions...how to tell?

Planted some irises last fall, and they are starting to come up. I've got areas where something which I think are wild onions coming up as well. I know this because in years past they have come up, and of course they never flower. This is my first year with irises, and I'd like to clear out all the onions to give the irises more room and to show them off.

So here's my question: Some of the onion plants are easy to spot, as they flop over. Some of them are more difficult to detect, so are there any identification differences between these two, or anything in particular to look at on an iris that I can use to differentiate between the two?

The other option is to dig up the suspects, and see what the bulb looks like, but I suspect that would damage the bulb if it were an iris, even if I replanted it...?

The last option is to wait for the irises to flower. Then I'll know for sure.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Matt
