Algerian Iris/Iris unguicularis

Never knew about these until a few days ago. Anyone know where to obtain them? Only places I could find were in the UK and AU

Seeds are available from NARGS this year - for I. unguicularis 'Alba' and ssp. cretensis, if that helps?

Plant Delights may have it. Even if it's not in their current catalog, I'd e-mail and ask about it, as they have offered it in the past.

I planted some of these, but they didn't return the next year. Might have just been my particular garden. I'm interested to see if anyone else has had success. I'm always on the lookout for things that will bloom in the winter. Perhaps others can make more suggestions along that line. You also asked about Japanese irises in another post. I have some, and they have done exceptionally well, forming a large clump after a couple of years. I would definitely give these a try.

In this warming trend, Iris unguicularis 'Logan Calhoun' blooms again. If you can get your nose that low, it is fragrant, of hyacinth to my nose.

Thanks! I had found plantdelights by searching for them, but they are oos... lots of things I never knew existed there, dangerous site.... NARGS is something I never knew about either, and now I'm a member... irises are fast becoming my gardening addiction, along with my peppers....
