Anyone else not impressed with dwarf coreopsis?
Comments (15)This is my third year for Jethro Tull and I added some Early Sunrise. None do well, and like you, I'm ready to just say that coreopsis doesn't work in my garden. They come back puny each spring, bloom fine once and then peter out. We have also had very humid hot weather, so perhaps that is the reason. I also have had a terrible time with Gallardia hybrids. They just droop and act daily as if they were starving for water. My cousin who also lives here also complains about the constant droop. Funny, ten years ago when I moved here, my mother's yard had two old volunteering plants: gallardia and some wild daisy. With time, all the gallardia have disappeared. Wonder if you can get heirloom types? I do have a large clump of the daisies yet going strong. Back to the coreopsis: it could be the soil, the light, the weather--any of those things. All I know is that they are being moved to a different location for next year, and if that doesn't work, they will be out and gone....See MoreIs it really an Incrediball or mislabeled?
Comments (21)the incrediballs in the nursery are fairly young plants...they look exactly the ones i got last season when the sticks began to leave out...this yr, the more mature leaves look exactly like the darker green (big) leaf in the picture with the pointy tip...the young leaves are more ovate and round vs the more mature ones with darker color and a pointier tip...i have grown annabelles in my garden and my clients'// and I honestly dont think you can tell the difference between the two by the leaves alone.. (altho I start to think IB is an Anna on steriods, so younger IB could look exactly like a well established 4-5 yr old Anna...and the IB leaves maybe even a tag large...My est from a few very mature IBs i saw (in 5-gal pots), the leaves are larger than grown man's palm - 7-8'' X 5-6'' - my est.)...the biggest difference i can tell is with the sturdiness of the stems..IB's stems are thicker than the annas, about 1 cm across my est (almost like a stalk of a regular white asparagus)... btw - all those 2-gallon pots of IB...the plants there look very young to me...maybe they jam two sticks (those you can find with the qtr size or 1 gallon size pot) into a 2-3 gallon pot and sell that as the larger size ones.....See MoreAnyone had Impressive Basement Systems
Comments (6)I had Impressive Basements finish my 1,000 sq ft basement. It has an office with french doors, a closet for my sump pump, an enclosed stairway to make a closet with door and a full wall with double door to storage / utility equipment area, and bathroom access door. They installed an Armstrong acoustic drop ceiling with 17 canned LED lights, heating and cooling vents, light switches w/dimmer, 15 electric outlets, steel studs, R19 rated insulated wall panels with two separate colors of self-repairing fabric so no painting. They have 20 color choices for wall fabric which is made from recycled water bottles. The materials are all non organic and water proof. My install includes 900 sq ft of Shaw LVT wood looking plank flooring. If there is ever a water leak or flooding the panels can be easily and quickly removed for drying. All materials are backed by Impressive for the life of the property. It is not cheap! My cost was $40,000. It can be installed in two weeks or less! Yes two weeks. If you are installing a full bathroom it will add a non negotiable cost of $16,000.00, which will add a week or two longer depending on the plumbing situation. Yes I could have done it cheaper with sheetrock wood studs etc, but I will never have to worry about mold problems and it really looks great. The wall panels can hold items upto 25 lbs and the anchor when removed will leave no visible mark or damage to fabric unlike sheetrock! During the construction if you identify where you want to have heavy items secured such as LCD Tvs or heavy wall hangings they will assist with properly installing them on wall panels at no additional cost. Fabric does not stain and dirt-dust can be wiped off with damp soapy cloth....See MoreDisappointment with Invincibelle Lace hydrangea!
Comments (26)Nicholsworth, thank you! These are absolutely gorgeous!!! I so wished that I had a wooded lot, but I don't... so I will have to live vicariously through yours! Oh my goodness, that little visitor is really cute and that red-leafed little tree.... isn't that a Japanese Maple? I so missed the one that i had when I lived in Zone 6 before! I am such a fan of shaded plants so I would love to have such an area on my property... :-) Can you just tell me though - how much work is it to maintain such a wooded lot? I can imagine that to maintain the naturlized look, either it is little work, or it can be even more work to make it look neat and yet relaxed. What is your real life experience please? I would love to hear that from you! Thanks again for the gorgeous photos - LOVE THEM! Thanks....See Moresimplycharming
