Hibiscus moscheutos is a native plant and is distributed throughout the Eastern part of the US all the way down to the gulf coast according to the USDA website.They all are easily grown from seeds or cuttings and very long lived in the garden. Ken, that Hibiscus is very pretty, but the tummy is prettier. :-) I have one Hibiscus just like yours in the photo, but this one is slightly pinker.

You go, girl !!! Mindy, by george, I think you got it !! Plectranthus australis (Swedish Ivy). But I knew that. Just wanted to see how hard I could make yÂall work. Noooo, not really. I had NO CLUE. But I can just picture everyone working hard as SantaÂs little elves over these past few days, trying to help me out. And a great big thanks to everyone !! YouÂve all been just great !!! And had you not, the poor little thing would be sitting outside right now, on its way to death's door. Although it IS a perennial, itÂs apparently Zone 10  12. IÂm 7b. So I guess Lowe's DID stick it in the wrong pot. I just ran outside and brought it in and the little guy already looks happier. Since I got him and gave him something to drink, heÂs really flourished. Now I can even feed him !! I WAS letting him go dormant. One of the biggest problems identifying it was probably its size. ItÂs so small and neglected so leaves werenÂt as lush and many had died. Most pics show healthy, established plants. Mindy, the only thing stumping me is the 'sweet aroma.' I swear, even tearing a leaf....nothing. But the description of the leaves and stems (off various sites) is so "on point" which has been my main problem (matching it with other suggestions) that I'm 99% sure you're right. "Glossy, dark green leaves are rounded with scalloped edges" (instead of bright green in other descriptions) and "Stems are green to dull maroon in color and will quickly root into soil as they grow along the ground" (no hairs mentioned like the others). All this is "spot on." And the ability to grow along the ground should have clicked when I previously posted it had those Âsuckers on stems like ivy does. Bet thatÂs what tipped you off, huh Mindy? Hee hee!! And just look at the beautiful flowers IÂll hopefully be getting (link below) !!! There's also a white version. Not too bad for an 83¢ abused & neglected plant, huh? Okay, I'm going to upset the apple cart here and give another possibility for this hosta. It does indeed look like an immature Liberty, and it could very well be just that. However, it also looks very much like Twilight. It's difficult to determine from the picture what the size of the plant is, or the plant habit. Liberty is, like it's parent plant Sagae, a vase shaped, upright hosta, and the leaves tend to grow at a more horizontal angle than Twilight. It is also a much larger plant at maturity. Twilight is more of a mounding hosta, although it is slightly upright as well. It's leaves tend to angle more than those on Liberty. So, a couple of questions to see if we can determine what this lovely plant should be labeled. How large is the clump at this time? Is the plant habit very upright, or more mounding? Perhaps most importantly, where was it purchased? Liberty wasn't in any of the box stores 3-4 years ago, but Twilight has been sold at WalMart and other box stores for quite a number of years. It may not be possible to determine which hosta this is until it reaches maturity, which for Liberty would be around 6-7 years. Twilight will reach it's mature height in 3-5 years, but will throw divisions and spread out much more quickly that Liberty.

Well, I LOVE them ALLL. I have to say there is not a one that I wouldn't mind having. I do have to say that Color Glory done very will for me as all the others did (SO FAR). And, yes there are some that aren't as pretty as other but I tend to find something that I like about every hosta that I have. So, if I had to pick one it would be Frances Williams. She is an awesome hosta - doesn't burn for me looks great! She tends to stay for a couple years and leaves me. I HAD Colory Glory which was beautiful until the stinking, no good for nothing VOLES had it for a midnight snack along with Spilt Milk, Independence and countless other. OH and Thunder Bolt. Boy, I was MAD on that one. I do agree that hosta loves what it loves and they can tend to be spoilt. Anyway, I also have a question. Have any of you tried the Castor Oil remedy for VOLES?
