I haven't sprayed anything for them, mainly because they are hard to get to. I have smooshed quite a few, and dropped them into a cup of soapy water like I do when I see any Japanese beetles. But the main thing to do is prevention. Last year was the first time I saw any in my gardens. So after researching it, during fall cleanup, I cut down most of the plants that were visited by the bug in spring. Since they lay their eggs in the stems, getting rid of the stems in fall or before, will limit their numbers next season. Good thing, though, that they don't kill a plant, just makes their leaves ugly. I think....

Oh Kim, I'm so sorry to hear that her surgeries didn't help. Before surgery I hung with a lot of back pain sufferers to gain coping skills. Pain is torture. Even childbirth provides "breaks" between contractions. Not so with many types of back pain, especially nerve damage. Watch her mental health. I was highly suicidal before surgery. Even labor pains at birth, in normal situations, provide breaks in between contractions. Nature/god has done that so we don't lose the energy or the will power to carry on with the birthing process. If momma gives up mentally, there's no hope for the baby. So, I believe, nature provides those breaks for our minds and hearts during labor. Not so with nerve pain and damage. It's torture that breaks the mind over long periods of time. Hugs and love to your sister from me. Even that doesn't express my deepest compassion for her. <3 bon

They are carpet beetles, which oddly seem to favor Shasta daisies. Not destructive...they feed off the pollen and nectar. You don't want the larvae indoors as they feed on fabrics, fibers and wood but are okay outside were they live in old birds nest or houses, dead logs, etc.
