Hi there-I just bought a new hydrangea this morning. None of the hydrangeas at the garden center had tags of any sort on them, just plain black pots so I am not sure what kind it is. It looks like a "nikko blue" or something in that family. Not a lacecap or paniculata.

Well, I am sitting here w/ a bag of Miracle Grow peat moss and the hydrangea. I want to plant it the right way so any suggestions would help. I feel pretty confident about the planting location which is on a north side of a shed. They seem to grow well on the north side of homes from what I have observed here.

Some of the questions I have are;

When should I water and how much water should I give it?

What time of year should I prune it and how?

How long after planting is it safe to add aluminum sulfate to change the color?

Any other tips anyone can think of that are good for newly planted hydrangeas would be much appreciated also....Thanks!!
