If they are tiny gnats. It's more likely that they are fungus gnats. Too much water in the soil causes the right conditions for these things to thrive, let the soil dry out. I hate those nasty little things. They seem to come from nowhere, get into the house and drive me crazy! Today, I have to bleach all the drains and make sure there is nothing for them to eat anywhere. I usually just toss all my kitchen scraps out around my bananas, but I had to stop, because last year, the fruit flies swarmed like killer bees! Now I bury the scraps, because getting attacked by a swarm of fruit flies is not pleasant. Gnats are bad enough!

Early last year a member here graciously sent me some flying dragon fruits that grow in her area naturally. Planted a bunch of those and quite a few sprouted in a small pot. HOWARD I can send you a few seedlings next spring - I do not want to disturb them now that they are getting ready to go dormant. They spent the all of last winter outside in a cold frame so they are quite hardy. Alternatively, I can send you (free) the leftover seeds that are still in refrigerator but I doubt they will sprout.
