What pot for hosta? What sources?

User

I bought a lot of pots, and I mean a LOT, in the last couple of months. My favorites are the terra cotta clay, but have a problem with them being very heavy, possibly susceptible to frost damage, and limitations in shape.

IF you use containers for your hosta, what shape are they generally? And do you always wind up with the big guys in the ground? Is mobility a consideration? Plastic okay? Built in water reservoir or multiple holes for quick drainage?

A few very special hosta are being treated to very special pots. Like, I have Orange Marmalade in a tall glazed ceramic pot with two handles on it, and I gave Emerald Charger a pot exactly like it. After viewing the mini hosta pictures on HL, I also have a couple of special pots ordered for the minis.

I like azalea pots because they are short and fat, but it might not be the best choice. Any opinions on that?

Any input is appreciated, since container gardening is my way of doing hosta, for the time being anyway.
