Newbie- don't know what to do with my Easter Hydrangea

Hi, I hope I can get some help- I searched old posts but can't find the info I need.

My husband bought me a potted hydrangea for easter, no idea what variety. I've had it sitting in my window since then, and its starting to look very sad. Many of the leaves have turned a bit crispy and yellow and fallen off (and I water it every day very well...), and the flower heads are now all spent.

Am I supposed to cut the flower heads off after they die?

Can I just take the plant and plant it outdoors, now that the risk of frost has passed? I know it needs dappled sun/part shade- anything else it needs?

Once I plant it outside, will it die off for the year? i.e. now that all its flower heads have died off? Will it bloom any more, possibly?

Thanks in advance for any help!! :)
