Miller Moth Invasion 2007

This week has seen a huge number of miller moths invade the neighborhood. The American Linden trees close by are all in full bloom. And this year the linden trees are heavily covered with blossoms and ... miller moths.

I've seem them before, but in much smaller numbers.

They are only a pest if they get in the house and so far I've caught about 10 in mine.

They surely have made the birds happy and fat. Thanks to 2 of my least favorite birds, the european starling and the common grackle, the moths are quickly disappearing from my lawn.

Although, toward evening, the swallows get their share of moths and they are fun to watch chasing the moths.
