Hot Tubs Should Be Hot...
Comments (17)And another nut bar hit's this site. You have been given most perfect advice from some of the best boys on this site. Why don't you listen ? 104F is the safest temporary temperature rize for the human body not to excede a 15 minuet time frame. After you alter the thermostat canceling your U.L. approval your tub now become not legal and insurance companies love that. How are you going to alter the high limit after you screw with the stat ? Most of those tubs come with timers. Is that going to be altered ? Do you have any idea how poisonous chlorine gets after it is heated behond safe levels ? And what is that safe level ? Do you have any idea how stupid it is to shut off the pump with over heated water ? I guess not. The water now does not move. You are now in a poaching tub. Sorry, i take that. I know you will leave the tub when you get too hot, but let's say your not feeling well. Had a bad day. Under medication or not up to snuff. Fall asleep, Wake up dead. Then what ? It could happen. I was a power engineer at a holiday inn for years and have pulled many unconscious people from the wet sauna ( and we locked it off at 104F. with an outside manual timer maxed out at 15 minuets. We took the water away because they were flooding the heating elements and shorting them out so they went to the pool and poured chlorinated water from empty beer cans onto the heaters. Chlorine poisoning and burned lungs. Nice vacation. I guess you have already made up your mind and we will not turn you. Good luck and be carefull. Maybe warmer clothing when riding your bike ?...See MoreOn demand hot water for whirlpool tub?
Comments (3)What is the temperature setting of the 50 gallon unit? If 120 degrees and the tub holds 80 gallons or more, that explains the problem. Water cools even while a large tub is filling. Adjusting the heater to the highest setting results in the water having much more stored heat, permitting the addition of some cold to fill the tub quickly to satisfactory level and temperature. The on-demand heaters frequently have flow rate and temperature limitations that result in very unsatisfactory operation for filling large tubs. I know of one case where a separate storage heater for the tub was necessary. Since it was not used every day, they turned on the heater about 2 hours in advance only when the tub was expected to be used....See MorePrice for pool, deck and hot tub
Comments (28)Have you considered carefully taking apart the deck and building a new deck patio or large porch with the lumber? There's enough there for a good sized patio. Lumber is expensive and it looks to be in good condition and nicely weathered, and since it's sitting in your back yard, it's also free. That's enough wood to build a different project, like a potting shed or playhouse, etc. I'm building a fence with wooden fence boards that were thrown away. It's a dirty job to tear wooden boards apart, sand them (if needed) and make them into something else, but well worth the work. It may be tough to find someone who would pay you for wood, then tear it all apart and haul it. Look up the same pools on Ebay. Even if you don't sell it there, you can get a price idea. The pool and accessories (and deck) can be listed and sold as a pick up only, and as a diy removal. We had our in ground pool removed last November (Yay!!) and sold the heater on Ebay. You'll get whatever it's worth there. However you decide to sell it, it will probably sell for more during swimming season. Good luck. Comments (3)The concrete slab under my hot tub has started to shift over the years, so it's not level anymore. I was quoted $700 to pour a new concrete base, which included gravel and rebar. That's really the best option, but I was concerned that this price was going to be too LOW! I wanted to make sure they made it thick enough that it wouldn't shift again in 5 or 6 years. I understand money being an issue, but that's really the best solution. Anything else, I think you'll regret in a few years and just end up spending more money to undo it. Otherwise, the next cheapest option would be to build a wooden frame with deck boards (so it won't rot from touching the ground), get it perfectly level, then lay down thick plastic that overhangs the boards, then give it a layer of pea gravel, then fill it with leveling sand. Then cover it with more plastic. My hot tub was going to require 10 cubic feet of leveling sand, which is twenty 50lb bags. But of course that will vary a lot, based on the thickness and everything. I'm not 100% positive that the leveling sand wouldn't wash away, even with the plastic layers. I was TOLD that polymeric sand would be a better choice, but that's just hearsay. It's considerably more expensive, but it DOES say it's rain-safe in an hour and is designed for pool decks, so... maybe. https://www.lowes.com/pd/CasaScapes-35-lb-Gray-Polymeric-Sand/1002635628...See Moreronalawn82
