Is there a standardized chart showing which Net Pot Sizes to use for each type plant/vegetables?

I would like to know this as well. Im currently using 1 3/4 in pots for lettuce. Seems okay

Thanks for threads. I am also facing same query and eager to know as well. I am also using 1 1/2 in pot for my plants.

Buy some fly tape at your local hardware store. Cut a couple 1" square pieces from the fly tape and put on surface of the soil. This will catch some. They're hard to completely eliminate but you can reduce their numbers. Be mindful not to overwater. You might want to try some neem oil. Find it at a garden store or order it on the internet. I like Dyna-Grow. Mix according to instructions and spray all over your plants until they are soaked. Water with it as well. The gnats lay eggs in the soil, the eggs hatch and the gnat larvae eat the plant roots. The neem should help control the larvae and it will shine the plant's leaves as well. Try these things and let us know how you stand in a week or two. The good thing about the sticky fly tape is that you can monitor how many gnats you have. Good luck and be careful about cutting the sticky tape. Use old scissors and try not to get it on your fingers. It isn't toxic, but it is ridiculously sticky and difficult to remove. If you're like me and hate hate hate bird netting, you might want to try tulle fabric. It's inexpensive, very light, and excludes all but the smallest insects (as well as birds). It's not as durable, though, so you have to handle it with a bit more care. As for the repotting question, if you're merely transplanting and not excessively disturbing the roots, you could probably get away with repotting any time of year. Ideally, though, you'd go a step beyond and completely refresh the potting mix (i.e. bare root the plant), and that's best done in late winter/early spring before it emerges from dormancy.

I picked a hole saw slightly smaller than the top of the net cup. My net cups stick up about a 1/4" unless I force them in. No problems with light. Are you circulating your water from a res ? I circulate my water and add air lines into the water in the PVC. I use perlite or hydroton. This pic is from last year in July........

the small roots will have no problem i don't think.. this is my first year using a net pot for tomatoes and i know that once a tomato plant reaches at least 4ft high some of the roots (center of main vine) are at least 1/4~ inch in diameter. it probably won't kill the plant, but maybe limit it's growth if the larger roots become jammed in a tight hole. i'm probably going to cut a X section from the center bottom of the net pot where the main vine/rockwool will be sitting on, just as a precaution.

There is no standard. I've grown everything from lettuce and herbs to tomatoes in 2" net pots. It's really just a matter of preference. Unless you need the roots to be contained within the pot, there is not a lot of reason to use larger pots in my opinion. But I am sure others will disagree.

I don't have a lot of experience but I will throw in what I have learned. The small 1.5" net pots will basically only fit a piece of rockwool. If you want to add a medium to the net pot then I would suggest a 3.75" net pot or a little bigger.

I've grown squash in 5" net pots inside a 6" pvc pipe and tomatoes, peppers and eggplant in the 10" net pots inside 3 gallon buckets. Both ran drip for a few minutes each hour, not constant like nft so I needed more medium. The net pots had grodan and clay pellets. For things in nft or water culture I would use much smaller since the roots grow out the net pot more. For drip and ebb and flow a little bigger is better to hold the moisture. The medium you use makes a big difference too, rock wool holds way more moisture than perlite or clay. There is no set guidelines I've seen but the plant will let you know if it needs a bigger pot.
