JLC, Not sure where in Zone 6 your at, it can make a difference. I take it that you bought this house and all the trees and fruits are currently in production? If so, you'll need some protection for your apples. You'll either need to bag them, or spray with an insecticide. Since you haven't sprayed for fungus, be on the lookout. Blackberries and Raspberries should be OK without spray in most places. You need to cut out the old canes though (the ones that fruited last year (they will look dead)). Strawberries generally don't need too much protection. If it rains a lot, the berries will rot. In those cases, I spray mine with Captan. Other than that, slugs will eat them (slug baits are effective). Mine are sometimes infected with strawberry beetles.

Indeed I was thinking slugs, as my amigo Jeff has stated...Prevalent mostly at night and early morning when conditions are warm and humid or wet... Succulents with their thick leaves and abundant moisture are ideal fodder for slugs and snails. Christopher

So I left this Monrovia tree outside until it was hitting a few days of 40s in NJ. I brought both the Four Winds and Monrovia to my bedroom (near a skylight). The Four Winds has adjusted and the Monrovia has dropped most of it's leaves and it has a ton of flowers. Which I read might be due to stress. I didn't get a chance to re-pot it due to other priorioties. Is it too late to repot it? Also should I add a grow light to give it more light? The past few weeks we have seen very little sun. Thanks. Thanks. No water restrictions here in Mississippi. I've got a lake that I'm thinking of pumping water from. I figured it would be better than putting that chlorinated water on the plants. Plus, I thought there might even be some nutrients in the lake water. I'm going to plant later this week after this cold snap passes. The shade is coming mostly from Oak trees with a few Ash trees here and there. In the winter, the cedars will get almost full sun in the afternoon when the leaves are gone but the spring and summer months are pretty shady. I hope it's not too much shade for them while they get established.
