I had the worms last year but unfortunately I never got any of the months because the braconid wasp showed up and killed all the worms. I wouldn't worry about the worms too much becki because they are very easy to pick off by hand but make sure that you leave a few so that the braconid can show up and take care of the rest. They lay their offspring on the worms and they slowly suck out all of the worms insides, so if you see a worm with little white looking things on him leave him be because they will take care of him quickly and while they're on the host he can't move around to eat anything else (isn't nature too cool). I would keep a close eye on your tomato plants though and not let a lot of these worms get on them because they can eat a lot in a very short period of time. Oh and finally did you WS your Datura Plants? I saw them on the link that you provided and would love to have some of those next year especially if I can attract that beautiful month. Oh yes! They love the firebush. I have scads of them and the often startle me by "buzzing" me when I am working outside. They also like the coral vine and jatropha and they like to perch and take a rest in the bamboo. I was surprised that you other gardeners do not have them with more frequency. So I looked them up on Cornell's bird site (A terrific place for bird info!) and it turns out that while the hummingbird summers in about the top 2/3 - 3/4 of FL, it does not typically venture into So Florida. I wonder why since if you view the map you will see that it winters deep into So America and I cannot image it is any hotter there. Anyone know why this is? I am jealous of your oriole! I love them so much. I had several pairs nest every year at my old home but never had one since I moved. Did you have them before you put up the feeders? I've never put up feeders for them, they just showed up. Three years in a row they made nests on the same branch in a tree in my front yard. They found some string from a blue tarp, and they'd use it every year to build their nests, which made the nests very strong and they really stood out. One year we had winds in excess of 80 mph and I was worried sick about those poor little babies. After the storm I was outside with a flashlight, searching the ground for the babies. Darned if the next morning they were all in that tarp built nest, still alive. I was thrilled they survived the storm. The following year one oriole built a nest on a limb that was only five feet off the ground. We joked it had to have been one of those babies from the wind storm that was brain damaged. :) I sure miss those birds since we moved. They seemed like old friends. Thanks for sharing your picture.
