I built this rack to hold my hoyas inside in the winter. I posted a pic on another forum, but I figured that I would post it here since it is full of Hoyas. This is not where I will leave it... I have a few perfect double windows to choose from to mount it in front of.

Also I noticed that my Lacunosa fragrance changed when it got a little cooler(i think). The original fragrance was very perfumy, and now it smells chocolatey. I thought the chocolate smell came from another hoya but I seperated them then noticed it was the lacunosa. Has anyone noticed anything similar to what I am noticing?

I also figured I would add a pic of another of my Hoyas which is in bloom.

Congrats! I've never notice lacunosa changing it's smell but maybe I didn't pay enough attention.

Your hoyas are huge! Also, I'm rather amused at how that betta is eyeing that carnosa 'Krimson Princess' above it. I miss having bettas. I'd have to get a closed aquarium to have one now, I have two cats.

I can't wait til my hanging basket hoyas get that full. I can't help you with the scent of lacunosa, as I've never smelled one yet, but I hope to get blooms soon.

Tigerdawn when you put your cursor on the photo and the little box pops up go down and click on the Html box and highlight it, then press Control and C for copy. To place the link where you want the photo to appear just put your cursor on the spot and press Control P for paste and the photo will appear. Your plant has very light coloured leaves compared with Hoya DS-70 even when grown in bright light. What is the leaf surface like, smooth or soft like velvet? There is a good chance you have another Hoya species. The leaves look too pointed to be Hoya incurvula or brevialata but that could just be the growing conditions especially if you are growing slightly dryish and in high light. Either Hoya brevialata or Hoya incurvula is produced by Exotic Angel and sold at many home improvement stores. Your plant looks fairly large, has it flowered? Mike

Mairzy: I am sure several of you will cringe when you hear my fertilization habits. I fertilize infrequently with MG Bloom Booster... Maybe twice this past summer. I use Superthrive in some watering... Maybe three times this summer. I do grow in an organic medium though. I also mixed Bio Tone Starter Plus which contains Mycorrhizae in with my mix. I usually freshen up my plants about every 2-3 years. Mike: I have some seedpods on some of my Lacunosa. It is odd these seedpods formed indoors with no pollinators. I didn't notice any seedpods form while they were outside. I will be using Mylar in a basement grow room to fully use all the sun the one western exposure window provides. Lalla: Thanks for checking out my hoyas... There is also a window to the left of the frame and to the right as well. They are a little cramed at this time and I worry air circulation. Poseidon: Thanks for checking out my pics. I built the stand for my hanging hoyas as well as the bleachers for my potted cuttings. I love excuses to grow plants or excuses to woodwork. The deep emerald green leaf colour tells me that your plant needs more light, it will not bloom with leaves that dark. If you can get the leaves to be a medium green I am sure you will see flowers. Light green is not bad either but it does mean that your plant is stressed. You most likely have a Hoya carnosa or pubicalyx from the description of the leaves. The best mix to use for Hoyas is one that is open, added perlite, diatomite, orchid bark, or coconut husk chips will open the soil mix up and make for a better root system. You need to focus on getting the plant's root system into health and then the plant will begin to recover. The old light green leaves will most likely not regain their colour so you might have to trim back the old growth once things improve. You could also start a new plant from cuttings but if there are not any really healthy portions of plant left you may as well focus on getting some new roots to form on the old plant. Can you tell us how big the pot is in relation to the root ball? You want a fairly small pot and a good open mix. A large Hoya can grow in a small pot, large pots just cause problems. Here is a photo of one of my plants in a 5" pot. Smaller pots allow the mix to dry out before you water again and this is what many Hoyas want, constant dampness is not well tolerated and when a mix degrades problems can start and root loss is the result. I'm sure it is :) Mind. Red's leaves turn red in high light, mind. Purple has purple/purple spotted new growth, Pink-Orange is a very fast and vigorous grower for me, Yellow has very light green new growth, and the others are hard to distinguish for me. Look at PG-12 that I got in the group order, for some reason it has put off HUGE new leaves and growth! Guess it's happy too. In fact, all of the plants that came from Thailand are really doing great and putting off some sort of new growth vines and leaves. Celata has done the best, really just exploding since being repotted with just perlite. Very happy with these beauts! UT-045:I've never seen such big leaves on Erythrostemmas or Mindorensis... Celata: Left to right M. Lite Yellow, Celata, and Pubicalyx Pink Dragon. I call them the triplets cause I ran out of room on my racks so they live with eachother in this East facing basement window lol Hopefully peduncles soon or next summer!

By chance, does anyone know the true name of the hoya on the left. It's from EA and they say it's H. sulawesii but that's not a real name. I love mine but I'd like to know it's real name.

The one on the left looks like my H. DS-70 from EA. Mine was also mislabeled. They called it 'Hoya Greenleaf'

Great setup, David. Is that hanging from the ceiling or is there a stand so it can be moved around easily?

The hoya on the far left looks like DS-70 to me, too.

Thanks for the comments. EA had that Hoya marked as Bilobata. It has about 4 pendicules forming so I will have blooms soon. I am hoping it is fragrant.

I have been working on the rack a little more since I posted those last pictures. Mostly the details and a little more beautification. I will post some pics later this week when I pick a spot to permanently hang it and the polyurethane dries.

I currently have this rack hanging from the ceiling from 4 chains. I can put 8 - 8 inch baskets on it comfortably(and a couple smaller sized baskets too). It would be nice to have a stand that I could mount this rack on instead of hanging it at times. Something interchangeable would be nice. I will have to consider that when I have a need for v2 of this stand. Maybe I will start collecting rhipsalis... Lol
