I got my hoyas from Rob's and they are so little and cute. Here's a pic of them..

Hi Nae~ those are some cute babies, lil babies, but cute. I saw on the AV forum you got some AV's too. Sounds like you have a houseful of babies. Have fun and enjoy. . . as they say they grow up so fast, enjoy them while their young. . . lol

Lol maid, you are so right about them growing fast, so did my little boy so I'm going to take your suggestions under consideration. Yes I got some alsobias too and one of them is ready to bloom. Thanks for your comment.

Thank you Ann! I looked up pictures on google of hoya's and found one that only said Carnosa....but, I wasn't sure if it was correct or not.....but, the leaves were identical. This wasa cutting I got in a trade about 3-4 weeks ago....and, it rooted like a champ and is taking off! :O) Thanks again for the help!! Frances

PPG - Thanks for joining and sharing. Don't you love wordpress!!! I find it so easy to use and I think most sites that are setup using wordpress look better than most others. In regards to growing hoyas, I have not had any luck using glazed ceramic pots. You'll notice that water is more retentive in these pots versus unglazed pots. I used plastic for most my hoyas. I grow a few of my hoyas in terra cotta(which has worked well for Pachyclada, Rigida, and Imperialis). Others will place their plastic pots in the glazed ceramic pots for aesthetics. 'Ruby Sue' has new growth that appears reddish in color. The new growth eventually fades to green over time. When I moved my 'Ruby Sue' outdoors for the spring/summer, it was hard to distinguish 'Ruby Sue' and Lacunosa. You will love the fragrance and the plant though. The next hoya that I would like you to pick up is DS-70. Commonly sold as EA Bilobata. It is an easy to grow small leaved hoya with incredible fragrance. Also great leaf tints when grown in the sun. I fertilize less in winter and always at less than half the recommended strength. If there is active growth I would fertilize but if growth stops during the winter there is little need to continue with the fertilizer. Hoyas come from a huge diversity of habitats. Some Hoyas never like to dry out while others are adapted to drought conditions and experience a dry period of up to several months in nature. Hoya pachyclada and Hoya australis subsp. rupicola are two good examples of Hoyas that have succulent leaves designed to help hold the plant over during the dry season. There is really not much information on these seasonal cycles in relation to growing Hoyas but it is the norm when discussing many orchid species in cultivation. Many orchids will not bloom if they are not allowed their natural dry rest periods and at worst others will rot if not rested. I don't think Hoyas are so picky but there definitely are many species that are quite well equipped to deal with drought. Trying to find any climactic data I could on a few orchid species taught me that if you know the collection data of a plant you can Google the location plus climatic data and look at the percipitation that falls each month of the year and the average temperatures as well. I did a quick search and used Hoya sp. Chaing Mai for the example. Searching for Chaing Mai Climactic data I came up with the link below. Hi Everyone, Thankyou for all your kind words. Denise.....You are right when it comes to the names but when it comes to the Hoya Multiflora and the Javanica they are two different Hoyas,even the leaves are different.Most of my Hoyas came with name tags and I have learned that here in Australia we seem to call them different names to what I have learned people call their Hoyas in other countries but hey at least they are growing well,But thankyou for the info and your kind words. Mairzy dotes....I have had my hot house set up for about 5 months now, and yes it is much better with the stones on the floor and like you said it stops the build up of mud when watering. o7sugar....I got most of my Hoyas from David Liddle,some from ebay and some from Bunnings store.The bamboo trellis I got from a seller from ebay and the ladders I got from the Plant shop. Gabro...Yes you are right they are two different Hoyas,I thought they were the same till I got both types and seen that the leaves are a bit diferent,but I am not sure if the flowers are different though. Shanna...Thankyou also for your kind words,I am having a lot of fun growing them and when they finally do out grow my hothouse I will just have to extend,but the only thing is I have not told my husband about the Hothouse renovations yet LOL. Thank you debi. The same way I am new to african violets, I am also new to hoyas. I am inspired by the growers here in this forum and often wish to be as good as they are by growing beautiful hoyas. What I learn here I pass on to my friends and my mother who has the same passion for plants as I do. Thanks everybody for always helping me with my questions and for showing me how to grow these amazing plants ( I pay close attention to the posts and pics of everyone).

Actually speaking of African Violets I'm getting a bit interested myself. The ones that have caught my eye are the fantasy type which have splashes on the flower petals. I'd also love to try a couple Streptocarpus! I haven't bought or traded for any YET! haha. I looked in Ebay and saw so many pretty ones of both types! I def. feel myself breaking down to buying a couple of the splash types.
I have grown AV's about 15 yrs. ago but moved out of state and the plants suffered from the trip and I just never replaced them. I was able to root a leaf and get them to make plantlets and all back then. Wonder if I stll have the knack? hehe.
This is all I need is to have to set up another plant station somewhere in my house! haha.
