hoya sap drips - explanation & cleaning

Our hoya plant was given to us so i'm not sure which variety it is. It is growing wild in our south window. I put string up to the ceiling along the top of our picture window. So far it has crawled up & over with lots of leaves. Now there are flower heads with about 12 pretty starry pink petals and burgundy starry centers. Took a picture of it while it was dripping sap. At first I noticed the leaves were sticky and thought maybe it had fungus or disease so I've been spraying it with soap-alcohol-water solution which seems to help. Changed it to 50/50 mouthwash & water solution for another alternative to see if that works better. Now I notice the flowers are very sappy and drip on my wood floor. What a PIA to clean. Any suggestions on how to clean my floor? What causes this flower to drop so much? Thanks in advance.
