Esther Opal - I'm sure your observations about the growing conditions of this plant have contributed to its beauty. All the plants at this home benefit from some "huge" far-reaching oak trees that are creating the perfect filtered light for the owner's beautiful collections of primrose, Japanese maples and hosta below. The owner has taken great care to feed some areas of his property with gray water too - a wonderful idea. Plus, when you live on the banks of a river, the water table cannot be too far out of reach. Your suggestion that it would be difficult to separate the plant from its growing conditions makes sense. Greenguy has suggested that this could be Northern Exposure -- a hosta I have and love. However to date mine has not exhibit the amount of pebbling show in the above picture or the one at the hosta library. And, my NE does not receive the same type of light or moisture that this plant receives. Even when I own the plant - I'm terrible at IDing them in someone elseâÂÂs garden. Thanks Greenguy.

Check out the Hosta Library (some pics are really bad tho) of what people like here and you do realise this could be a discussion that lasts for the next 30 years LOL well, by the end of that many years I think that both you and I will have made it thru every hosta at the Library and will then have to start over again! Just giving you a hard time here!! I dont have a Liberty yet. WAY NICE!!! Several possibilities come to mind, one being 'Aspen Gold' or 'Ft. Knox', ÂPiedmont Gold or 'Golden Sculpture'---what was the leaf shape, I guess would help narrow the field?
