It's very beautiful bloom, Denise. Congratulations!
I have one question, however. I have a hoya which was identified as H. purpureo-fusca also, but the blooms didn't look like yours. I trust that yours is correctly identified where as mine could be misplaced. Here's a photo of my bloom for comparison. Can you take another look and see if they're the same one? Thank you.
Thanks everyone! Xuan, your flowers definitely look different from mine. I got mine from the Hawaiian vendor, so I'm pretty confident about the ID. What do your leaves look like? Not that leaves tell us much as so many of them are similar. Here are the leaves on mine...
I hope someone will be able to ID yours as it's a pretty one!
Congrats, very pretty. I especially like the color, the 2 different pinks. Is it fragrant?
Hi Xuan,
Yours is lovely too. This particular Hoya is often confused w/ a Pubicalyx. I have one I was told is that (purpura-fusca)& am doubtful. But it's never bloomed for me, so who knows?
Denise, the leaf on my plant is definitely different from yours. It's more oblong, pointed and the veins are more visible. Here's a photo of the whole plant with leaves. Maybe some hoya experts on the forum can help with an ID again.
Xuan...I believe that Jan is right...I purchased my Purpureo-fusca from Logee's...and now that I see the leaves of Denise's plant and your plant...I'm convinced that we both have Publicalyx...my leaves look exactly like yours...very different from Denise's. The only good thing about this hoya from Logee's is that it's grown like crazy...but, I'm disturbed that they would knowingly market a plant with an erroneous ID. I guess we "live and learn"!! Patrick
I could be wrong, but Xuan's plant looks nothing like any pubicalyx I grow (and I have several cultivars...) Looks more like a verticillata. But the flowers don't... Confusing!! Anyone else have an opinion??
I agree with Denise, Xuan's plant doesn't look at all like a pubicalyx to me. There is a form of verticillata that has pink/red flowers. It's pictured on myhoyas.com but it's hard to tell from the flower picture because her flowers are reflexed. Xuan, do the flowers open and reflex back?
That sure is pretty, Denise! Only two leaves and it's blooming?
This is one I will be interested in watching for some time. I never did get a cutting of Marilyn1's p/f. She actually bought it a long time ago with the p/f ID on it from a reputable dealer. Since she moved up to her son's I've not heard from her or seen her posting.
