Thanks for your reply. The flowers look as if it might be a Frostweed, but the leaves are different. As you can see in the background, the leaves almost look like an oak leaf.

This is interesting. USF has 100 Herbarium specimens of this wildflower and they don't all have the same leaves. The one from Highlands Hammock looks like yours, ones from other places in the state are different. If you are interested in wildflowers this link to USF Plant Atlas is a good one to save.

You are welcome, We have seen this flower before, but never had a name for it. It's not in any of our Fl wildflower books and we have several. That's odd because it seem to be common throughout the state. As you said, it is said to be a butterfly plant. Do you recall which butterflies you saw visiting it?

I didn't have my butterfly book with me at the time and right now I am in Chicago visiting my mother, no butterfly book here either. I know there were quite a few different Swallowtails, which I see frequently in my back yard so I recognized them, but the rest I am not sure of and didn't have the time to look them up.
