Probably not. These are plants that need to be a certain size, and have everything right to bloom. Relateing to the size is the age of the plant. Don't ask me, its what 'everybody' says. I grew one for 4 years before it decided to bloom. By then, I had moved it outside.

I think higher light is one of the keys to getting hoyas to bloom. I don't mean full scorching sun, but just brighter light. My plants hanging in my tree get less direct light than they ever have, but the quality of light they do get is not filtered through glass, curtains, or distance therefore is it a brighter light. All but three (out of nine) are blooming or getting ready to bloom.

I want to caution you, scale is one of the TOUGHEST pests to eliminate. And with a Hoya, so many places to hide, and regroup from. The young are very small and nearly transparent, so whatever treatment you used, keep with it 3 times longer than you think you need to. I've thrown out more than one scale infested plant, just because I couldn't battle them ANY longer. I would rather not have the plant, and perhaps replace it down the road, than infect the rest I do have and lose them all.

Why is everybody saying that a hoya needs to be a certain size and age to bloom?! It sure doesn't fit my hoyas! They sometimes bloom as cuttings and they are not even potbound (or whatever it's called). A hoya blooms when it's ready in my opinion.

My carnosa needed a very dry winter (watering once a month) before it bloomed. Perhaps you need to cut out the water in the fall and early winter.

well its worth the wait for blooms, in the mean time its very healthy and looks wonderful. Here's a pic of it, it's a few months old, the plant looks twice as full now!

You're right, it does look healthy and wonderful! It's one of my favorites. I'm usually not all that crazy about varigated plants, but the Rubra/Krimson Princess is an exception for me. I've had mine a couple of years now and it hasn't bloomed yet. It took my other carnosas 2-4 years before they bloomed. Other hoyas bloomed much quicker.

It's been my experience that variegated Hoyas are slower to bloom than their green counterparts. I have a regular carnosa rubra that is pumping out blooms like crazy, yet no signs at all of my older variegated plant.
