Is it too late to get a crinum for postage? I too love them and only have one that started out as an unidentified piece of a bulb that a friend gave me which was from her landscaper-neighbor. I planted it & about 3 years later it bloomed & appears to be a Carolina Crinum. Its now huge and has 7 pups. I planted the orginial bulb piece WAY too close to the house & know that if I tried to divide or move it the foundation would crack & the garage would cave in. Last year added topdressing of aged biowaste compost from the county which only made it grow greener, faster, taller and bloomed 3 times this spring/summer in 7B. I'd love to have another & promise a good home if you still might have one.

Hiya Karyn1, Yes, that 1st pic (the C. woodii w/ the lance shaped leaves) is solid green. My friend Sage (of the Ceropegia Journals, who I think gave it to me) said he thinks the C. woodii is a complex of sorts (if I recall correctly) some kind of a group, which makes varieties. Sorry if I'm explaining this badly, a bit stressed at the moment. BUT, he did say when he's planted seeds from his C. woodii, that they resulted in plants of different shaped leaves like this one. In my experience the C. woodii variegate is a MUCH slower grower & I find it much fussier, difficult to root, quick to wither away to nothing. I've lost several pots of it before. I don't wish to jinx myself, but this one's lasted longer than others I've had, I'm keeping this more frequently watered than the green one, it seems to help. Hi Toni, If you search for C. sandersonii, particularly for pix w/ blooms, you'll see why it's called a parachute plant, that particular plant's bloom shows it quite well, very much like creatures from another planet. I'd tried to grow C. ampliata & one other whose name I forget, but wasn't able to get them to root. I had a funny time walking around on the Staten Island ferry (in NY harbor) w/ a long cutting of that full of blooms. Given their rather phallic appearance (excuse me, but really), I enjoyed some pretty strange looks from folks as I carried the blooming stem around. Some folks thought it was a fake flower & asked to touch it. I declined after explaining it was real.

Maureen, Exactly, it was a pinterest question, that's what I meant by is it "stalker'ish". Kippy, We don't use facebook, not me or my kids (who are much younger). Little, These are Christmas gifts. We don't have a huge family, and that is about what we now spend on those we are close to, in some cases nieces and nephews too. Girlfriends I would spend less on usually. Cyn, I think cost can be awkward with peers (though not always, depends on personality) but I find younger relatives are only too happy to hit us up. : ) Oh BBSTX, you are too funny! Jan M I get the point about the balancing and totally agree that the shelving is too much. Not so sure about the "look" comment though, I definitely have a certain design aesthetic that I'm going for with the farmhouse sink and the shelves and fridge and all, I think it's really going to pull together when it's finished and look really nice. The fridge is not small, it is narrow yes, but it's 75" tall so it is actually taller than a Bosch stainless fridge (which is what my other appliances are). If I ever need to replace the fridge, I can replace it with the 24" wide Bosch one and build it in more. I am definitely going to take you guys' advice about the glass cabinets along the fridge wall though. This is what I sent the designer this morning So it should look kind of like this layout-wise (stove wall/pantry/fridge), except the fridge will be surrounded by glass-front cabinets down that whole wall.
