Well you should get a June and Halycon, I would have to have either Striptease, or Kiwi full Monty also .. I am not sure if those are going to get to big for your space..

I have and like the Georgia peach heuchera..I think there is a new type called Solar Eclipse that I thought looked nice. I wouldn't mind getting that myself.

I don't have the right amount of room to plant large swaths of similar plants (though it can look good)

So I plant very different things for shock? value hahahha

Oh my. Its the 18inches - so many hosta, so little room. Its hard to get started so I'll recommend some that I grow that would fit. A tough but beautiful hosta I have is Heart Song. Dark green with a white edge. It would go nicely with a grouping of Pandora's Box. I also grow Grand Tiara and an absolute must have (IMO) Stilletto:

I would skip 'Electra' and go for huecherella 'Solar Power'. It has proven more vigorous for me and its color is just fantastic, especially in the spring. 'Midas Touch' hasn't done very well for me either, perhaps give heucherella 'Sweet Tea' a look. Color and shape are different, but 'Sweet Tea' is a better grower and the color is better than 'Midas Touch' during the blah days of summer.

For hostas I would stick to ones on the small to small-medium side. Here's a favorite arrangement of mine:

From left front to right: Dixie Chickadee, Tiny Bubbles, Dixie Chick, Toy Soldier, Gemstone, Heuchera Autumn Leaves, Janet, and Devil's Advocate in the back (which will be too big for your spot).

You could replace 'Gemstone' for 'Blue Jay' for a difference in shape, and it also has a more intense blue color, but it is also very slow growing. 'Prairie Sky', one of 'Blue Jay's prodigy, is a little bigger but it's a better grower and holds the nice powder blue of its leaves for a long while. 'Yellow Boa' could be a replacement for 'Tiny Bubbles', both have nice yellow color in spring and grow well, but 'Yellow Boa' has nicer flowers whereas 'Tiny Bubble's flowers do not open.

Restless Sea is a beautiful rippled blue hosta with wild, undulating leaves:

Rainbow's End has fantastic color and foliage that looks almost plastic:

You can't go wrong with any of the tiaras, 'Luna Moth' is gorgeous and there's always the mouse clan:

Eight mice in this picture (sorry I didn't get any close-up pictures), Rainbow's End is on the left, Luna Moth on the right, back center is Hoosier Dome (much too big for your area), Lakeside Cha Cha to the back left and Dragon's Eye to back right (again, both too big).

Hopefully this is a start. There are just too many hostas to choose from, so maybe these will give you something to think about.

I agree. Electra is nothing special. Let the hosta be your green/yellow.

And I have to agree about Rainbow's End. FANTASTIC. Not a super fast grower for me and could be really great.

I also agree about June and Halcyon. And of course, Touch of Class. All hold up super well and are last to go to sleep. The blue tones would look great with the heuchs you are considering.

The thing is, in her last post, she said she only has 18" wide of space, and June, Halcyon, and others in that family will grow too wide in that spot. My June is at least 24" wide, if not wider. That's why the smalls and small-mediums will work better.

Also, for other companion plants you could plant brunnera, Japanese painted ferns, phlox divaricata, golden creeping jenny, though it may grow out of bounds quickly. Just a few ideas off the top of my head.

Since the neighbor's patch of garden spot is undeveloped, it has no outer edges. I could bump it out to 20" by hammering in the plastic garden edging (looks like flagstone, by Suncast) 5" farther out from the obligatory bushes.

I have perused the web of hostas which would show up to people walking down the sidewalk 40' away (we're on the way to and fro to a City college) and come up with this list. WHAT DO YOU THINK??

Rainbow's End, Rainforest Surprise, Gypsy Rose, Paradise Island, and Remember Me. They all have warm yellow tones somewhere, but they are different shapes and textures. I would use heuchera and heucherella which are the medium warm tones as I previous suggested. NO PURPLE heuchies, I hate all the deep purple ones. I only need like 5 of each, I would think, to fill up the 16 feet of the plot. How far apart should the hostas be from the heuchie-coochies?

They're all good choices. The heucheras you chose all get to be around ten to eighteen inches wide, depending on the cultivar, and the hostas vary as well. Look up how wide they get at maturity and plant accordingly. I personally like it when the plants touch one another at their mature size, but not in a crowded sort of way. Some don't.

June and Halcyon maybe too large but High Society would work and it has nice yellow in the middle to go with your warm hued heucheras.

We are opposites, I love all heuchera, but purple are a favorite. I have some nonpurples I can reccomend:
Sweet tart in the middle flowered at a young age and Pepperment on either end of the group, although not yellow, its not purple either. Ginger Snap on the far right front goes through both purple and amber stages. It was the smallest of the group when I got them so its hard to see in the picture.
