News: One of the local Home Depots here . . . Layton, UT, is now carrying Eleanor's VF-11 for $16.97/gallon!!!!! Woohoo!!!!

I find that I prefer to use VF-11 as a folier feed, you can also use a weak feeding of something else but it would be overkill. Since you have a soiless mix, use VF-11 in place of the other fertilizer. Also neem oil is not a fertilizer, so you can use it, however if you do use VF-11 alone it makes the plant stronger an less susceptable to disease and insects so you'll end up using less and less.

CG, I have seen it at several RiteAid in the Long Beach/OC area. RiteAid in Long Beach: the one by the traffic circle. In Garden Grove: the one on Valley View, next to the 99 cents store ( there are 2 RiteAid stores on Valley View in GG ). In Fountain Valley: on Brookhurst, near Talbert. These are all 50% off ( could be 75% off ) right now. I did not know how good it is, I did not buy any. Is it really good as advertised ?

Listen, guys, here is the deal. I am not in any way saying that VF-11 is no good. It is good, but is NOT A MIRACLE. It has all the right stuff. Just like many fertilizers. There is no such thing as "immediate" results. Another thing is, what makes a flowering plant bloom is plenty of real light, sunshine; fertilizer that is high in second and third number on a bottle (0.01-0.3-0.7 for example) high-phosphorus fertilizer. SuperThrive is a hormone that might help your plants grow a bit faster. It helped mine. Another thing with SuperThrive, it is not a MIRACALE. No "one drop per gallon" stuff! I use a teaspoon a gallon and that seems to work. Another thing, Hoyas come from all over the world. Some like it hot and sunny, and some like it shady. They are (most of them) considered succulents. If you are really into giving them what they want, check out where your particular Hoya came from originally (I do not mean nursery in Chicago). If it is originated in Thailand, you can check what climate it is there and try to simulate the climate yourself. But it is too much work. I grow my Hoyas under special florescent lights and they are doing fine. This is what I have learned from reading books, and talking to people: You want them to grow use hormone filled fertilizer. Fertilizers with high amount of nitrogen will produce rapid but week growth. You want them to bloom use High-Phosphorus one. Take your Hoyas outside in a nice, sunny day. Do not over-spray Hoyas-Wet leaves mean fungus. Again, none of this is a "rule of thumb", but this is what helped me to take care of my plants. Common sense, knowledge of your plant origins, and some knowledge of a plant structure and function (botany stuff) is what you need to make any plant happy1

Wow, that's a deal, Carolyn! From Eleanor direct, it's $16/gallon if you buy four, then with shipping to me it makes it about $22/gallon. My sis buys it for her nursery and she has to sell it for $25/gallon to make a tiny profit. If she didn't believe in it so much, she wouldn't waste her shelf space for so little profit.

Carolyn, I bet you get yours from the same supplier I do here in Montana. Is she out of Belt Montana? I was told when I first starting using it that there was only one supplier here, so I bet she is the same one I use. I wonder if they'll get it in the stores here.

Maid, actually a friend of mine who goes back and forth, picks it up at an Ace Hardware in Great Falls! $19.99 and no tax. :) Still, not too bad. :)

Josh, I have no idea what's in it. I keep forgetting to look!

I've looked on the bottles at the local nursery, but can't recall seeing them on the package.
