Comments (53)Those are some very impressive hostas. I wish my garden were a lot bigger like yours. Here are my large ones: Sum & Substance that nearly fills my 8â wide bed: Taken from my front porch: Kossa Regal - at 6' wide is almost as big as my S&S. He is at least 15 yrs. old: Fried Frances Williams nearby: We lost several trees so my garden is in full sun: Elegans should have been a lot bigger, but she got crowded out: Blue Angel in the back also gets sunlight several hours a day. This one is 3 years old, and is 5â wide already: Regal Splendor, 4' wide, 4 yrs. old: Sagae 3' wide, 2 yrs.: A friend gave me this one last year. Would you agree that this is Blue Angel? He got frost burn earlier this spring:...See MoreBig Daddy
Comments (6)No Ken, I don't think that it is diseased. I may take you up on your offer, I have 4 or 5 divisions and if you would monitor it for me it would be appreciated - OH but not the yellow one. And maybe I'm not using the right term, the stem is not streaked, just the leaf. I showed it to Van Wade a few years ago and I think he is the one that suggested that I divide it. Oh now I remembered, he suggested using BAP 10 on it to speed up the changes. Is that what it does? I did not do that-I didn't see any and then I forgot. I haven't been active on the forum for a few years but am enjoying it again. Roni...See MoreBig Daddy/Lemon Daddy
Comments (2)I have owned both. The Big Daddy is about six years old. It was in gorgeous huge full bloom when I bought it but has failed to live up to what it was supposed to be. I have moved it twice, thinking perhaps it was in the wrong light to bloom properly. It didn't help. This is its LAST year with me if it doesn't show me it's stuff this year. I bought and planted a Lemon Daddy last spring. It was really pretty last year, but I don't think it has survived winter (zone7). It started showing a tiny green spot at the base of the plant which never got bigger and is now gone completely. It was kept watered and in proper sun so there really was no reason for it to die, but I think it did. So all in all, I am not really happy with either of these hydrangeas....See MoreHelp to Replace Hosta 'Big Daddy' --Trade anyone??
