If you're growing it outside, I would suggest you grow it in a nice shady spot, like under a tree or porch. A little morning sun is ok, but Florida's sun it hot and will likely burn your Hoya. And I personally don't like the "washed out" look at all, and am willing to deal with fewer flowers to keep a plant looking pristine. I grow my KP inside in an east window. I've always found that variegated plants do better with a little less sun than their plain green counterparts, which I know defies logic. I thought maybe it was just my personal experience until I found an article once that suppported my viewpoint. I have a couple rooted cuttings of KQ that I salvaged off an old plant that had reverted back to mostly green, so I'm looking for a potfull like that. Thanks for posting the links to those pics. GORGEOUS! You have great photography skills! Were you referring to the leaves when you said your vitellina looks just like Xuan's plant? Because I just see no similarity in the flowers. As far as the leaves go, I've noticed in every picture of the leaves (including yours...which by the way is a gorgeous leaf!) that the leaves are more elongated than Xuan's (his are much more round), and not reversed heart-shaped, like his are. Gosh, you just made me SO excited to get my vitellina! I just love the color of the blooms, and I love those succulent veined leaves. Thanks again for posting pics. Gabi

I don't believe Logees is known for Hoyas, I'd be skeptical of their IDs. Logees, Laurays, Glasshouse Works are all nurseries mentioned often at my local Indoor Gardening Society & which local members seem to know pretty well. As to Logees, the only IDs there I would automatically trust are those of Abutilons (flowering maples) as they're being supplied by a friend of mine who hybridized them himself (my friend Sage, author, artist & photographer of the Ceropegia Journal which I mention from time to time as a wonderful site to visit & study). Sorry Mentha, but you might spend some time looking at Hoya sites & studying just the leaves; Incurvula is nothing like this & while I cna't remember their look offhand, I don't think McGillivray....... is either. Confusing I know, but give it time & pls. check out lots of pix, over time you'll see some of the more subtle differences.

Thank you so much for each of your comments and lovely photos! When doing research I also thought that the form on GT looked a bit different but then the colouring had me confused. The fragrance was pleasing and fruity but not overpowdering although I only had one opportunity to smell it before the open flowers wilted in the heat. I am going to stick with the rose as GC then and see what she does :-) I just really wanted GC over GT and I know myself: if I realize that it was not GC in a year's time, I will not have the heart to remove a healthy growing and probably still beatiful rose!
