Very NICE hoya Carolyn, it has a nice growth habit, I love how the leaves grow closer together...very pretty leaves. You did an excellent job, its thriving! Congrats!

Nice one, Carolyn! Are the leaves a little succulent? Looks like they might be. That's a nice little plant I'll have to put on my wish list. Isn't it interesting that the ones we struggle with the most often times go to the top of our "favorite" list when they finally grow well?

Am I the only one who thinks this looks a bit like Lacunosa, some of the leaves even have the suble 8 dents some Lacunosas have (Tove)?

Karen you are right in that this species and many others that are in the Otostemma section of the genus have those lacanose leaves that Hoya lacanosa gets it's name from.

Carolyn I will post a photo when I get home of a plant that I have that is either this species or Hoya walliniana. Bright light gives my plant beautiful red veined leaves. Ihave found this one to be sensitive to drying out and I almost killed my plant a few times because I forgot to water it.

Nice comeback Carolyn. I have Sippy too,only mine has some red in it leaves due to more sunlight. I like it's compact vine and splotched leaves. Reminds me of H.walliniana....

Good growing, I had one but maybe didn't like this hot weather.

Carolyn here is an old photo of my plant when it was in a sunny spot. Right now the leaves are dark green and it has not grown much lately although I started a cutting to either add to the pot of trade for something else.

Here are the flowers which face up unlike Hoya lacanosa's.

Jan this one should be fine with hot weather. I believe that Hoya walliniana was collected near the city of Kuching in Sarawak Borneo.

Denise, yes they are more succulent than lacunosa . . . but not TOO succulent. :)

PG, the leaves are similar to lacunosa, but slightly larger and not as narrow.

This little guy turns red in the winter light.

I believe there are at least four new vines on him, and new leaves opening up, daily. FABULOUS PLANT!

Carolyn you are certainly doing something right because your plant is very obviously enjoying your care. The leaves on my plant are hairy but not densely so. The vines on my plant were about three feet long before I saw any peduncles form and those have fallen off now. The long wait for blooms was worth it because this really is just an interesting Hoya to grow. I grow my plant hanging because it is quite rigid and I have accidentally broken many leaves off my plant.

Oh Mike, those red leaves are so pretty!! The flowers are just as nice. Seeing the red leaves def. makes it different from Lacunosa but, I do see the similarity.

Well, Mike . . . my leaves are rigid and completely smooth on top. Little bit of fuzzy underneath, but not much AT ALL.

I tried growing him hanging, but the leaves dropped, but I put it on a trellis. Doing MUCH better. All the leaves you see in the picture (but about four near the base) are new growth on new vines from this spring. Once it gets going, it doesn't want to stop!

The leaves on my plant feel smooth but there are small bumps and if you look close tiny white hairs. There is a good chance that we have different but closely related species.

I double checked. At the moment, I see no hairs on the leaves. That is interesting, that they look so much alike.

Check out the Hoya sp Kuching and Hoya sp cf. lacanosa. My plant came to me as Hoya lacanosa and was collected somewhere on Borneo. My plant is very similar to the sp Kuching.
