To much water and sun??? Soil should be moist, not wet and getting filtered sun not direct. I keep mine in a self watering pot, where the roots can seek out the moisture, and on a shelf about 5 inches or so from the screen out in the Florida Room where it gets a southern exposure.

Did you purchase it? If so, talk to the vendor. Was it from a swap & maybe put out in sun too strong? Dehydrated does not sound right or good for this plant.

LGS, I may have to put it in a self-watering pot. Next time I go to Wal-Mart, I'll get one. I got one for my compacta cuttings.

PG, no, I didn't purchase it but somebody bought it for me from Logee's and had it shipped to me. It looked fine until yesterday. Where I had it outside gets shade until about late afternoon until sunset (western exposure). All my other hoyas are fine but this one.

I've had my Multiflora for awhile now and it was originally in a deep 4 inch hanging pot. It was doing ok, doing some growing and flowering. But I did some research and reading here and most of what I found stated this Hoya needs to stay moist(not wet)and suggested self watering pots. Sooooo....I transplanted it into a homemade(for some reason I couldn't find any)selfwatering pot a few months ago and since then it has been doing better, growing and producing peduncles like crazy. E-mail me if you would like to see and know how I made my pots.....pretty simple.I need to make another for a new compact Multiflora I just got last week from Gardino's.

Afternoon sun is the harshest, and since multiflora is a thin-leaved one, I would keep it somehwere where it gets NO sun at all outside. A shady spot on the north is ideal for multiflora.

I grow mine on a shelf right up near the ceiling where it gets very little light and although it is very dark green it blooms all the time. I would suspect too much light. Was your plant well rooted when you got it?

Mike, yes it does have a good root system. I moved it to to the living room where it still gets light but it's indirect light and the windows have blinds plus sheer curtains on them. Does this sound good?

Brad another thing to check is for spider or other mites. Wipe the bottom of a leaf with a cotton ball dipped in alcohol and if it comes away stained reddish brown suspect mite damage.

Bright indirect light sounds good. I moved a Hoya fraterna last week and it did not like the move at all and proceeded to drop the two newest leaves and the growing tip died back. The plant is back in it's old spot five feet from where I had moved it and all is well again. Maybe your plant was just upset with the change in environment but a sudden increase in light can be very hard for a plant to deal with.

If it continues to decline, don't be afraid to just whack it back to a "trunk" and let it restart. I got a variegated multiflora last fall and it proceeded to drop almost all it's leaves and what were left looked pathetic. About mid-winter, I whacked it to a few bare branches and kept it watered over the winter. It didn't do anything, but it didn't die either. About a month ago, it finally started sprouting new growth. I have a feeling it's going to do great this summer! It's been my experience that there is nothing that will "shock" a plant into growing like a good pruning!

I have 3 multiflora's and I use a wick with them.I have them outside with 50% shade cloth facing west and they growing and forming lots of buds.This a very inexpensive way to grow them.I have found this hoya dose not like a lot of sun.

Thanks, everyone for your advice. I'll keep everyone posted on how it does. Would it hurt to cut a little bit off to see if it regrows?
