Mantis;You are so right,My ground is really, really dry,and watering plants every evening is the only thing that has saved them, but,I did not water this evening.I have been feeling really bad this week,and I forced my self to get out there and water yesterday evening, but, just couldnt force myself to do it today. CASEY, yep, its sad, to not see any more blooms till next year. NANCY;That is probably exactly what Ms.Blackie was thinking.She probably thought I had watered that area and it would be cooler to lay there, but, when I tell her she had better not put her butt on my DL, she moves a few inches, then looks at me to see if I am going to fuss again at her.Shes good to lay between the plants,and so far,has not laid directly on them, Gets pretty close,some times. RITA: Yes CONDILLA has bloomed and bloomed and every bloom has been a double.I love this daylily.It has not had one bad bloom since it started.And the best thing about it is it can take this heat.The heat just dont seem to bother it at all.This picture was taken about 6pm this evening after being in the sun all day at 101 temp.I was just feeling exceptionly bad today,and forgot all about getting the picture of my last bloom. Here's an awkward looking photo of some of my petunias dug up from the garden, cut back and crammed into a container (with good light soil) and ready for their long winter rest. These are stored in the cold room at about 2 to 4 c and brought back into the warmth in March for cuttings to be taken. For aphids, I make a safe and easy solution of about 10 drops of liquid dish detergent, a teaspoon of canola oil (other oil can be used) and two slightly rounded teaspoons of white sugar that is first dissolved in warm water, this all is poured in a one litre spray bottle and topped with water and shaken. I thoroughly drench the undersides and tops of the foliage and soon the aphids croak. This stuff works good, though if you miss any aphids, the buggers will continue to multiply even on plants kept in cold storage. I sometimes use Malathion to ensure a complete bug kill, I hate the stinky stuff, though of course, I only use it outside and allow the plants to air out and lose most of that smell before bringing them back in.
